Becoming A Referee

So I've always wondered how one becomes a Ref as it seems to be an old art that doesn't have a set path to become a Ref in either Boxing or MMA. Could anyone shed some light on how to become a Ref in either Boxing or MMA seems to me you really got to know somebody inside to get in.

really. it's that easy.

then, when they don't reply, have some persistence. call. investigate. get the info. then follow through. this is where it gets hard.

$1 says you never actually get to step 2, or god forbid step 4 (fill out the paperwork), let alone show the persistence it takes to become a ref in an actual bout. cmon kid, prove me wrong.
