upon the many known confusing rules that the UFC has i'd like to adress one aspect which is their 5min rounds which Firas pointed out. (Checkout his youtube channel -Tristar gym) He pointed out that by having 5 minite rounds it makes Jiu Jitsu less effective. As you could be spending 2,3 or even 4 minutes going for that takedown in which you only have a few minites to go for a submission. And a submission takes time and it's definetly not as quick for going for that KO punch. As you need to pass the guard etc One thing also is that at the end of the round if the grappler mounts his opponent, his opponent can just be saved from the bell and pretty much escape being mounted without even actually escaping it which makes it harder for the grappler, as next round he has to do it all again. It's also noted that Firas said it caused Crocop to rush his striking which caused him to lose against Gonzaga as he felt he didnt have enough time standing up as he was being takedown down. Where as in PRIDE they had 10min rounds so he ddint have to worry about being rushed. I feel the ufc should at least have 10minute first round. Your already kinda screwing the grappler over by letting both fighters stand up and restart next round, added on to the fact the gloves make it a bit harder to choke. Eg going for the rear naked choke
