upon the many known confusing rules that the UFC has i'd like to adress one aspect which is their 5min rounds which Firas pointed out. (Checkout his youtube channel -Tristar gym) He pointed out that by having 5 minite rounds it makes Jiu Jitsu less effective. As you could be spending 2,3 or even 4 minutes going for that takedown in which you only have a few minites to go for a submission. And a submission takes time and it's definetly not as quick for going for that KO punch. As you need to pass the guard etc One thing also is that at the end of the round if the grappler mounts his opponent, his opponent can just be saved from the bell and pretty much escape being mounted without even actually escaping it which makes it harder for the grappler, as next round he has to do it all again. It's also noted that Firas said it caused Crocop to rush his striking which caused him to lose against Gonzaga as he felt he didnt have enough time standing up as he was being takedown down. Where as in PRIDE they had 10min rounds so he ddint have to worry about being rushed. I feel the ufc should at least have 10minute first round. Your already kinda screwing the grappler over by letting both fighters stand up and restart next round, added on to the fact the gloves make it a bit harder to choke. Eg going for the rear naked choke

I was hoping this thread would refer to an announcement that champs have to defend their belts or vacate

At a certain skill level, good grapplers can nuetralize each other for 5min

Ive always been a fan of the long rounds since early 90s UFC

The shorter rounds are possibly why we see so many more decisions in MMA/UFC today..........that and coupled with better training in takedown defense and submission defense?

In PRIDE and the Early UFC Years.........a grappler/jiu jitsu specialist could wear down his opponent and get the submission. Kind of what Royce was all about.......just biding his time until he wore down his foe and then he went for the submission.

lol, holy crap you are sad.
Sadder than a fighter winning multiple belts over multiple organizations and NEVER EVER ONCE defending a belt????? And no title defense even on the horizon for yet another year?????

lmao, I bet you have a calendar in your room marking down the days Conor hasn't defended his belt. What a dork, drop it, nobody cares if he defends his belt or not.

Umm let's see here. So you're saying a professional fighter that has won multiple titles in various organizations AND weight classes, who's career is STILL ASCENDING, who may also be on the cusp of the largest payout in combat sports history is more sad than some jerkoff on sherdog who obsesses about the way he lives his life and handles his career? Fuck, you haters are super sad and pathetic. But wait, he should forfeit his chances at 100's of millions of dollars, backtrack and fight for peanuts just to make you idiots happy, LMFAO

Your BOY is ruining MMA and The UFC all for a payout and you jock sniffers think it's cool. Just admit it. Great Athletes can transcend their sport to make money and make their sport better in the process. But you fanboys wouldn't know anything about that. It's all...."fook this" and "fook that" and "Conor can do whatever he wants to make money" regardless of the mockery he is making of MMA and The UFC.
In the end........he will be exposed for what he truly is.........an overhyped money whore. It is inevitable.

Say it with me, NOBODY CARES. It's a belt, unless you watch MMA to see Dana wrap his arms around grown men, you shouldn't either. The fights are what matters.

Fights should have a purpose other than how much money some Irish Jabroni can make. Why doesn't he fight Justin Bieber next? Or Deadpool? Or The Hulk? or Kim Kardashian?
You f%$king tools are hilarious.

Because fighting is about displaying martial arts, not beating up on celebrities. Maybe you should stop being so triggered and fantasizing about Conor not having a belt anymore, so you can get back to appreciating the basics...that's if you ever did!

Ruining the sport by bringing more attention to MMA then any fighter EVER. Clueless douchebag. Also, when he is beaten...again, because losing in MMA is inevitable, it won't be getting exposed, it will be what happens to 99.9 percent of fighters you fucking MORON!!
