Ronda. No other woman was believed to beat Mayweather.

Ronda was already getting pretty famous during her SF run, to be fair, and most of her fame was her own performances + whole 'girl powah' angle.

So not sure how much credit UFC can take here.

Exactly

Only Conor.

and they spent unprecedented money to promoted him. according to Dana, UC 189 had to do over 1million buys to break even.

Before that, Conor drew 13,000/19,000 seats in Boston as a main-event. And before that, he was 3rd string on ppv card and made zero difference to the 300k buys.

Zuffa's wettest dream was getting some scrappy journeymen to become stars. Scrappy journeymen were a dime a dozen and didn't feel the urge to go to greener pastures close to Mount Fuji seeking top yen, as they feared they might get crushed there. No wonder how hot they were for those two guys.

Damn...

It didn't do 1 million too, did it?

Nope. But they spent zero going into 194 a and did a million buys there too... so I guess you can call it a profit.

But yea, "1 million buys" on its on usually sounds spectacular on Sherdog... but for 189, it was a loss.

Ken shamrock heading over to the wwe wasn't a bad idea
