Diaz bros Stockton slap...

What if both Diaz bros threw any kind of punch instead of the slap. Then followed with more blows and not pointed at their opponents. Would there be significant differences, any difference in the fights outcome? Or is slapping a grown man just that cool?

The slap is a tactic to demoralize and irritate their opponents and thus lure them into the Diaz's game. Sure they could throw a punch, but the slaps and the taunting are done for a reason.

It's all a strategy.. the slapping, the pointing, etc etc.. it's to make the opponent feel insecure and go at them even more or just remain there to be 'punked' I'm sure overall its done them more good then bad.

Plus it's their trademark stuff, it's marketing at this point... plenty of fans dig that move.

It's really more of an off balance check. More so with Nate than with Nick, but as you can see, a jab wouldn't really be as effective in these GIF's as the slap. IMO
