the amateur circuit is a joke. fighters have 1-3 amateur fights, then they are a pro. there is no building up process. fighters are still learning new techniques while they are in their professional career.

meanwhile in boxing, fighters sometimes have up to nearly 100 amateur bouts before they become pro. the pinnacle of amateur boxing id the Olympics for fucks sake

in other sports Football, basketball, baseball. a recruitment team scouts the country and world for the best talent to bring to their college, to compete on an amateur team. Then another recruitment process is done to draft these amateurs to the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc.. In MMA, almost anyone can fight at an amateur level. and the UFC's recruitment process... is a reality TV show.
MMA needs to build guys up in the amateur circuit before they throw them out onto the professional scene. especially in the UFC which is supposed to be considered the most prestigious organization in MMA today. They need to offer some sort of amateur scene for fighters to compile experience. doesn't even need to be televised.

How does that deter a level athletes? If anything that would argue it's an easier path for them.

But don't be fooled. There is a significant weeding out that occurs in the gym every day. The guys you see generally have demonstrated material ability against other skilled fighters. Even boxers don't generally get the same daily test that mma guys get.

Almost no one starts as a mma fighter. Most mma fighters have dozens (striking) or hundreds (grappling/wrestling) of matches before starting mma.

there you go

You think a level anything would be in mma if they could be in sports potentially making 100 times the money.

mma is a b class sport, get over it.

You're supposed to have an amateur career in something else before you step into the MMA circuit. It's a professional venue for martial artists and grapplers who can't make a living in their own sport.

Ronda was an A level fighter
She lost when she was out of her prime

Because it would be quite detrimental to have a long boxing career if the final objective is to be a mma fighter. Boxing is useful, but very far from being the base for mma.

Arent olympic athletes a level atheletes? Just cause her boxing is trash doesnt mean she isnt a good athlete.

give them headgear and shinguards.

We don't need MMA fighters spending a career in the amateurs. There are enough small "professional" promotions that it serves much like a minor league before a fighter gets to a major promotion.

It's not like many (and I know it has, but it's the exception to the rule) guys enter the UFC or Bellator with a 0-0 record or even a losing record.

Reported and blocked.

Lucas Browne, top 10 HW boxer got KO'd by wrestler Daniel Cormier. How about that?

A-level NFL starting defensive lineman vs no name HW on some small card. And before you bring up experience or other excuses, the guy who KOs him actually has LESS fighting experience. Sorry bros they are amazing athletes but not superheros.

There are already A level athletes in MMA. If you think otherwise, it means you just don't know how to spot one when you see one.
