Khabib's father: "Plan is for Khabib to win the title, defend it 2-3 times and retire by 30"

Another "retirement planned by 30" fighter? Seems like a new trend. Tate was the only one with a good excuse since she got beat up so much :)

Seems like a sensible plan.

In the docu on him his people sit at the feet of elders and take their advices.

If he gets the title and defends it 3 times, still undefeated, then he goes up in GOAT conversations imo.

Get rich and get out.

Seems hard for many...Can't think of many even boxing (Big stars) that didn't fight until old days or retire after a beatdown.
GSP could have been the closest but he is coming back.

The guy who barely ever fights is gonna do all of this in less than 2 years.

Ain't gonna happen.

Everyone has reservations about reaching the top and stepping away while in their prime and making shittons of money.

If he's undefeated by end of 2018 that's when all the big money would start coming in. Hard to walk away from.

Yea it's very strange. I guess everyone wants to cash out and leave the sport healthy. No one has talked about beating Anderson or GSP's streak. No talk of leaving a legacy. Can't say I blame them, but it's a shame we'll have a bunch of revolving door champs.

Win it, then chicken out of the next big challenge?

Here's some numbers to think about, records since sept. 2013
Khabib 3-0
Fergusion 9-0

That would be a weird move.

The LW title has never been defended more than 3 times. LW is missing a GOAT.

BJ Penn is the guy that comes in mind now.

But a guy like Khabib could be the greatest LW if he defends the belt for a while. Retiring at 30 seems unlikely. 35? Yeah, good time to walk away, especially in the lighter divisions. But 30 seems a bit young to do so.
