You first need to make him gas.

The most effective way of gassing Yoel so far was playing possum while he depletes his gas tank on your face.

Keeping him at bay doesn't gas him, only out points him, tho. This only results in "Let's go Jesus" 3rd round Yoel.

He was 1-1 going into 3rd with Weidman and his corner, knowing the judging bias, kept telling him to finish the fight. That didn't take long when he set his mind on it.

we haven't seen him fight championship rounds I HIGHLY doubt he will have the cardio for them. he needs to finish bisping before then, which he can easily do. although, Bispings chin durability has improved for some reason

Just remembered Jacare being rocked and Yoel trying to KO him while in his guard, resulting in a tamer Yoel in succeeding rounds. No idea Maura said that but nice coincidence haha. Also it reminds me how much of Faijao's power it actually took to set Yoel down. It wasn't just the backhand that caught Yoel by surprise, he might be relatively in his senses after that. It was the big overhand right on the temple and a big hook right on Yoel's chin that finally made Yoel roll back into his demise.

Yoel Romero has literally never gassed noticeably in a fight. Anybody who thinks he has is listening to Rogan propoganda. Romero has A L W A Y S had weird output issues. He will stare at a guy for 4 minutes and throw nothing, he's been that way since at least Strikeforce vs Feijao, wher ehe spent the entire first round throwing 0 strikes. If Romero gasses as much as people pretend, he wouldn't have nearly exclusively 3rd round finishes. He just doesn't throw much, that's not being gassed.

Kennedy almost finished him if it weren't for the bell.

Romero has dangerous striking but he's not a skilled and refined striker and can definitely get caught by sloppy strikers, and he has as a matter of fact. He's been caught by guys like Feijao and as mentioned Kennedy.

It's not outside the realm of possibility that pin point striker Anderson Silva could have cracked Romero in a standing exchange.

Also, Romero is not as much as a wet blanket as Chael. Romero definitely stands and strikes more, and gives more striking opportunities than someone like Chael who just holds on to dear life or stays way outside striking range.

He probably doesn't throw much to conserve energy. After round 1 against Jacare he didn't come close to finishing him again and looked pretty tentative for the rest of the fight. Rogan is overhyping his "cardio issues" though, Romero seems to manage his cardio well
