There has been a constant question about fighters cutting to much weight and putting their wellbeing at risk.
Some people suggest more weight division for a better spread. but the ufc already has alot of divisions.
so how do you get people to fight more at their natural weight?
how about several weigh ins?

you have like 3 weigh ins before the fight wich means a fighter cant cut as much weight cus he has to be at that insane weight for a longer time and that would probably kill you. so if you try and keep the fighters at a weight they will have to be more normal now the fighters get to the their lowest point just at the weigh ins.

poke holes in this why this wouldnt work please its been on my head for days

I don't really care to police this issue, but the obvious statement would be that people would still find ways to cut the most weight possible and more regulation wouldn't necessarily be cost/time efficient or effective.

weigh ins during camp like one fc does....i think you're only allowed to drop a max of 6% water weight.

As long as you can make the weight healthy, who cares.
People who can't make the weight healthy should just lose muscle mass but they probably won't because they feel they will be at a disadvantage.

phatron, did not know about one fc, thanks for the link :D

Weigh in just before stepping inside the cage.

First chance to drink is after the 1st round ends.

It's also possible to test hydration levels, so you can administer that test at the arena.

If the fighter is too dehydrated then he'll be DQ'd and a replacement will step in to fight.

That'll stop the extreme cutting right then and there.

Scrap mens 125 and womens 115
Make womens 125
Make a cruiserweight division for 206 to 230
HW is 230+ with no upper limit
Move everyone up a weight-class

Multiple problems solved

I'm against more weight divisions as i think after you add Feather and Fly to women then that's it.

You could make a case for 225 or 235 too but i just don't like adding divisions when we have the thin weight classes LHW and HW are today.

I think that you just let fighters do it how they want to do it and stop policing it. They are making an adult conscious decision to try and cut as much weight as they can i think that when these guys fail to make weight a certain number of times then you force them to never be in that weight class again under that organizations banner. Similar to what they are doing now with Lineker.

These fighters can always leave the company and do whatever they want with their body anyway so i feel like trying to police it is a waste of time. When bad things happen like the One FC weigh in it's really horrible but maybe some mandatory proper education should be paid for by the companies or the athletic commissions. Teach every fighter during training camp with drop ins from educators as they have USADA showing up randomly anyway. Maybe a weight and health specialist can travel with the USADA rep so it's 2 birds 1 stone type thing.

It's a tough subject for sure but i guess to sum it up - more education/help from up top.

how about hydration test? must be above a certain level. i think ONE fc is doing something like that

What if he misses weight?
