I'm sure BJ will tell you he did everything right leading up to his fight last night, but the performance we saw was shocking. If you were to ask for a fighter who is the epitome of any time any where, it would be mr Penn, and in an age of interim belts and money fights it's sad to see such a legend on the way out.

Most of the time they are not Successful.

Doesn't matter if you go Vegan, Change Gyms, Change Coaches etc etc God's Will is God's Will.

That's a good question... some guys fell hard and had good late career runs, like Lawler, Arlovski, and Mirko. But then you have guys like Maynard, BJ, and Hendricks, who all went from destroyers to absolute duds... and of course Ronda is going down that path too.

I think some guys just have a stronger drive and are into it more, and take it on as some type of challenge and learn to overcome it.

PJ's issue is psychological, am sure he still got at least what doesn't make him lose like that.

The right motive + the right camp = successful resurgence (Hunt, Lawler... somehow Overeem and Arlovsky)

Power is the last thing to go that's why it's easier for HWs to make a resurgence and HW is an older division anyways. Lawler was much younger when he made his resurgence. BJ's body just isn't the same anymore.

You would need a free mind like McGregor or Jon Jones. Open to anything. The two best in the game right now.
That's easy to say right now because those two are still in their prime. We'll see what happens to their skill level if they are even around fighting 10 years from now.

Agree, it's more difficult to make a comeback in lighter weight classes
