He never lost his aggression and fearlessness. Even though he got knocked out a few times because of his aggression, he still managed to rack a few knock-out wins late in his career.

The BJ Penn last night still had power and chin, but he seems scared to close the distance/go relentlessly for the takedown.

i believe Hendo's style lends itself to more longevity than BJ's.

also, some just age better. most age worse than BJ, it's worth pointing out. and almost no one is in Hendo's league.

Dunno ....... Maybe Hendo was just a much better fighter.

Aside from what's been said, Hendo is a MW. The heavier the division the older you can stay relevant in most cases.

Hendos style and power. He could always time that right hand.

It's rare that fighters can be competitive at that age after 20 years of fighting.

It's more that Hendo is an anomaly like Couture when it comes to fighting.

The Reason That he did well was ...

Mind went blank. Just can't seem to think of The Right Thing.

NOt to mention his fountain of youth...I get Penn has a cute wife as well but Hendo's seems require a lot of sex maintenance....

Hendo had bad cardio in his late age which is understandable, so that has literally nothing to do with it

He went 5 rounds with Bisping and looked fine and he's much older than Bj. Bj looked gassed one minute into his last fight.

Hendo was matched with a guy he KO'd stiffed before, and the guy was still afraid and respectful of that power.

Plus, Hendo benefited from years of TRT usage.

Yair didn't respect BJ at all. He was doing all types of fancy strikes on BJ.

It's the speed of the divisions.

The higher you go in weight the easier it is to fight old. It's that simple.

Plus punching power stays into your 40's and the higher they go the more likely you get koes.
