just found this article from last year. Saw some threads earlier about Dana possibly inadvertantly invoking the Ali act by making Mcgregor and Floyd a public offer.

This might be the real reason Mcgregor filed his license in California instead of Nevada. Not paying the commissions fine couldve just been a perfect excuse to file in Cali instead.

If he challenges the UFC contract in California, he could win just on the fact that the UFC isnt a boxing promoter nor was his contract filled out on the proper forms or approved by the CSAC.

Imagine how pissed Dana would be if Mcgregor used his own promotional company (which he has) and copromoted with Mayweather promotions?

It might be the reason UFC is offering him so much. He actually has insane leverage to not even have to deal with the UFC for this fight.

Him and Mayweather could copromote this thing and laugh all the way to the bank!

EDIT: Called it!!

Mcgregor is using his promotion to leverage better terms or just make the fight without the ufc....

EDIT 2: Mayweather responds saying that hed like to do it through showtime ppv....

EDIT 3: VERY IMPORTANT OVERLOOKED PART OF THE INTERVIEW; REFERS TO PROMOTERS AS CUSTOMERS OR BUYERS.....8 MINUTES IN:

EDIT 4: MAYWEATHER WANTS FIGHT AT 147 OR 150

As long as Colin is under contract with the UFC he'll do fookin noting

UFC lawyers will cock block Conor til the end of times. Conor is their biggest draw and WME-IMG will fight it like their lives depended on it (and it does, actually). Conor isn't remotely powerful enough to fight UFC/WME-IMG. He'll get rekt.

i mean the only issue of substance would be the contract.....from there its just interpretation of california law....

its not like this requires a shitload of witnesses or discovery....it would probably be quickly handled in either sides favor very quickly.....

its really just 1 or 2 clauses in the contract vs california law and the ali act......there isnt a whole lot of information to digest....just a matter of legal interpretation.....

but i do find it nuts that everything is set up on mcgregors side as if this was the plan all along....

he has the promotion company....and he filed his license in cali.....if he schedules a fight in cali and sues the ufc, he has chosen the venue in a state where the case is surprisingly winnable.....there are just different athlete contract protections in boxing than in mma.....and for cali vs different states...

Conor could easily buy his way out his contract if he wanted to.

Mayweather knows this which is why he is avoiding the fight

if u think conor can buy his way out, then u seriously underestimate the % the ufc is making off of him.....

He easily could. You have no idea how business works idiot

theres no way theyd let him do that.....otherwise he would.....if he hit the open market, he could give any promotion legitimacy as a two division ufc champion.....they would pay huge money for that.....

if he can make the ufc 400,000,000 in three fights.....theyre not going to let him buy out for 20,000,000.....

if you think a business is willing to lose out on that much and potentially let their biggest star fight for another promotion, you need to look in the mirror before saying the word idiot....

Does anybody know how many fights conor has left on his contract?

He can't and Mayweather did offer him a fight for $15 million. Conor can't accept it because he's currently under contract with UFC. Also neither of them have any intention of fighing, they're just conveniently using one another's names to stay relevant

It seems too perfect to not have been planned. Good for Conor....

Dana would let him because he said that he likes Conor.

Yea sure, why not if it makes you feel like this fight could really happen.

There is usually a championship clause, so even if you only have 1 fight left on your contract, if you win a belt in that 1 fight, you are still under contract for as long as you hold the belt. Since Conor doesn't want to give up or defend his belt, he is under contract forever.
