Is UFC on Fox 22 a joke?

The baldfather and the powers that be have blessed us with a main card on national tv that consists of:

Paige VanZant vs. Michelle Waterson
Mickey Gall vs. Sage Northcutt
Urijah Faber vs. Brad Pickett
Alan Jouban vs. Mike Perry

I don't think I could even conceive of a more superficial card. Doesn't this seem disrespectful to the sport, to have such a huge platform and ignore the more talented or even more exciting fighters in favor of the ones that look the most like they belong on tv? Wouldn't anybody that cared about MMA believe that good fights are going to sell better than good looks?

If I get to watch Northcutt and Waterson lose it's all good.

Northcott vs Gall is the only superfight the ufc has ever made

Perry gets the winner

The main event sucks

It really is the most pandering-ass card of the year. You either hate or love one or the other fighter in each bout.

Shoutout to Faber/Pickett, the people's main event.

THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE BOI??
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

It's called "The UFC hype machine"
Just ask sherdog.

I mean they could have let faber headline for his retirement fight and put PVZ and KH as comain theiron the big Sacramento draws anyway I don't think it's the best quality cards but I'll watch just to see fabers retirement fight Michelle's gorgeous self to see if gall can beat up sage and to see the goat Mike perry

That's a good card
by what standard? By talent and experience, Northcutt vs. Gall could be headlining barn fights 15 at your local casino, not the co-main of a flagship Fox card. If Joe Silva was determined to have a all-Hollywood card, he could have at least given us a legit top-ranked fighter likely to put on a compelling fight, like Luke Rockhold.

I think it's a great free fight card.

Veterans fighting? Check
WMMA (with both sides being pretty legit)? Check
Young exciting dudes just starting their careers? Check
Douche with a black belt in These Hands? Check

It's tailor made to show off to casuals/the uninitiated what UFC has to offer, as well as actually being a fun card for long time followers.

@Platinum

Explain to this goofus why it's a good card, please and thank you

That card literally looks like they're trying to run a test to see how big of a draw PVZ is. It's really bad.

Main event is a joke, skill level of fightpass prelims. The UFC hype machine will actually make many people believe its high level MMA they are watching though

If Perry loses I'll consider it a success

Yeah its a free card, but not all free cards are created equal. It used to be that you could expect mostly hungry, fringe guys on fightpass or fx cards, along with solid veterans in the headlining spots. The FS1 cards would be a tier above, with at least 2 fights that were relevant to the top 10. The flagship Fox cards only happened 3-4 times a year and were a real treat. This is a Fox card that feels like its the result of Joe Silva saying "fuck it, lets throw the prettiest people on the bottom of our roster out there and see what happens"
