Seriously they should have opened the cage door mid-fight and let him keep rolling out of the building and out of the UFC

Please see highlight of the Ryan Hall v Gray Maynard fight below:

Jiu-jitsu should be banned from MMA.

Should be replaced with small joint manipulation.

He kicked Gray in the face multiple times. I'm more interested in watching Ryan Hall than Gray Maynard.

No, every time Maynard refused to follow Hall to the ground, the UFC ref. should have opened the door, and let Maynard keep walking away from Hall, and straight to a boxing ring. Maynard's cowardly strategy lost him the fight, and put a dark stamp on whatever legacy he has had in MMA. He's a goober. He just can't fight intelligently.

Some of you seem to be coming to grips with the harsh reality than the UFC, at least right now, is not the WWE spectacle you thought was promised to you. It's a martial arts competition. Not all fighters fight the same way.

You're enemy territory. Get lost. We don't like you.

I thought he was awesome, hilarious and entertaining. He was a shit ton more entertaining than Gray Maynard has been in the last several years.

No leave jiu-jitsu in but allow kicks and stomps to people doing what Hall was doing.
Maynard should have followed him down and tried some gnp though, he was losing on the feet and did nothing else.

its Grays fault for being mesmerized for 3 rounds. dive on that motherfker and hit him, if you get subbed, at least you tried

Everyone who disliked this fight probably thought the Griffin/Bonner fight was peak MMA.

MMA is entering its Civil War phase amongst fans. It's a byproduct of its increased popularity. It's now the casual fan vs. the middling fan vs. the old school fan.

Only one can survive.

I like Jiu Jitsu, when a guy is actually using it intelligently and waiting for a key opening to latch on to a submission.

Anytime Maynard moved even slightly forwards, Ryan Hall flopped to the ground and 9x out of 10 he came nowhere near grabbing on to Maynards legs, they were half hearted attempts and not set up intelligently at all.

It was embarrassing.

Yeah, try to stomp Ryan Hall and see where that gets you.

Yeah he totally should have stood and banged, cos that's what men do!

It was a terrible fight though and ended up as 1 sided kickboxing when Hall wasn't falling on the floor.
I'm not sure what Maynard expected, ok the kicks might have been a surprise but if he bothered to watch any tape on Hall he should have known what was coming and had some sort of plan to deal with it.

Nothing Hall did was exposing himself to kicks or stomps. His opponent would not be in position to set-up a kick, or stomp because Hall is pivoting away from them while trying to entangle their legs. Kicks, and stomps in Pride generally came off failed takedown attempts, not inverted guard. The only way to avoid Hall entangling your legs is to pull out, and walk away like Maynard did. Of course, Maynard ran every time. Cowardly.

This idea that Pride rules would have saved Maynard from Hall is pure fantasy. Hall's positions on the ground had nothing to do with stomps, or knees, and Maynard would have ran under Pride rules, just the same.

BJJ dominates when a fighter dedicates himself to making it work. Get over it. It's always been that way. You're just used to watching the combat version of male strippers putting on a show for you. Real martial artist buckle down, they don't shake their tits for applause.

No but he should have actually gone for submissions when there were actually openings, or created openings by using striking/clinch work.

Don't roll around when you're nowhere near his legs just because he's started walking towards you, lol.

He should have at least dove in and out of his guard. No excuse for walking away every time. Hall is great, but Maynard can grapple too. Bizarre.
