There is the irony that aldo took over a year to defend his belt on two occasions, yet nobody ever accused him of ducking.

Ufc 142 - ufc 156

13 months

Ufc 179 - 194

14 months

Dominick Cruz held a title for over 2 years without defending it before he was stripped.

Cain Velasquez took over 20 months between title defenses.

Ufc 166 - ufc 188

Im all for stripping a fighter who refuses to defend a title, but conor fought 3 times since winning the title, all 3 of the fights the fans had no problems with until Jose Aldo started pouting once again.

Now all the sudden, days after winning the 155 lb title, conor is bottlenecking the fw division, the same division that Jose Aldo has held up many times, longer than conor has with his constant injuries and contract disputes.

If having Conor defend the fw title was such a huge emergency, why did they allow him to fight 3 other times outside of the division instead of forcing him to defend the title earlier this year? One of those times for a title in a different division?

Where were these complaints when bj penn held up the lw division for 14 months (ufc 84 - ufc 101) to go after gsp and the welterweight title?

Having two belts only became a problem when Conor won.

Lets not be hypocritical here. Conor wasnt given the same opportunities, chances or time that other champions were given. UFC is to blame for allowing this circus to go on, simply for ratings and money.

If they were so worried about the fw division, they would have stripped him of the belt before the alvarez fight.

If defending the title was everyones main concern, then the ufc should have forced him to defend the title or strip him of the title if he refused to defend it instead of scheduling the RDA fight.

The second time it took him so long was because he was forced to go along for the 6 month worldwide Conor circus.

Conor only got stripped because DC pulled out and they needed to do something to make the weak ppv event worth a ppv price (which they really didnt).

Conor unlike those mentioned was healthy and active but didn't fight once in FW for over a year. Those other fighters when active returned to their weight classes.

A Silva also didn't defend his belt for a year to fight LHWs, but people thought of it as an accomplishment instead of a negative.

is like when Andy was an active MW Champ fighting at LHW. Iz Normal, he defended his belt, but Conor didn't . He just fought out of the FW division after he won the belt, all those fights, he could have at least defended it once. Didn't.

Plenty of fans, myself included weren't happy with the Nate rematch. Should of defended the FW belt then. Instead got an opportunity like no other fighter got in recent UFC history. To avenge a decisive loss after getting finished inside of 2 rounds in a non title fight. No controversy, no bullshit, just a decisive ending to fight. But because its was a money fight, Nate gave Conor the chance of a lifetime

Cant think of one other time somebody got finished like that in a non title fight and got an immediate rematch

1. Most people gave Silva shit for that.
2. Anderson would have already defended his title 4 times (If Lutter made weight) before taking his first fight at LHW, which was a short notice fight to save a card.
3. Most people had already said he cleaned out his division, and were complaining about Anderson being too big for MW and not fighting at his "natural" weight class.

Anderson defended his title multiple times before doing that and was lacking contenders at MW

Neither are true in Conors case

What @BrassBalls said. Why is this so hard for people to understand? Conor was healthy and fighting elsewhere. AND, more importantly, never mentioned returning to 145 to defend the belt. He talked about the 155 belt, 170 belt and even fighting Mayweather. When asked about fighting Aldo he said that fight "didnt excite" him.

How much more clear can it get???

He duped all of you and the UFC. They just finally called his bluff. Should have done it 6 months sooner

It had nothing to do with what fans thought or said lol. Dana was pretty clear from the beginning that a fighter can't hold two belts, but he was letting Conor do it, knowing he'd be stripped of one shortly after.

Silva also only had to win 1 fight to get a title shot. Conor had 6 fights before his title shot. So they fought about as many times in their weight class before fighting up.

Why is this subject so hard for people to comprehend? Really?

One of you makes this thread every day

Aldo was injured, Connor was healthy and chose not to defend

Connor was told all along he'd have to vacate one title

And it's been 12 months as of now but Connor isn't returning til after his baby is born in may, and he's not going to fight right after the birth either. you're probably looking at August at best which is 20 months undefended while healthy and able

And saying goes nobody complained about aldo?? people complained about his inactivity all the time

Stop making this thread

but Aldo got injured thats why, Conor was not injured
