I haven't really looked into it too much, imo he should of defended the 145lb belt against Aldo even though Khabib or Ferg make more sense, I feel the interim belt shouldn't have title defenses and both belts should be unified asap unless there is a prolonged injured champ like Cruz. The belts don't need to turn into heavy paper weights like WBA titles .

Is it because he is taking time off ? Or did he refused to fight at 145 ?

He fought 3 times in another division, is now taking a break and has shown no desire to go back to 145.
Plus they need something for their next ppv so they added a belt

He asked Dana to strip him to save face for not being able to defend the belt

Because he was never going to make that weight again

because Aldo did this

he asked for too much and they slapped his pip. just a theory.

Because the Champion has to defend the belt to keep it. You no defend, you no keep.

He knows the Aldo fight was a fluke and scared to replicate knowing full well a focused Aldo finishes him.

Conor is a scared bum. He'll do the same to the top 5 in LW division.

He's a fraud that REFUSED to put his belt on the line.

Really all they needs to be said. He already achieved becoming multi-weight champion and doesn't have any interest in the contenders at 145 or to do the weight cut... Why drag it out? He's not going to defend it. I don't get the outcry.

Because the UFC doesn't like him anymore

Because he's done with 145. From his first interview he made it clear he was going to win the 145 belt and move on to 155 right way.

The amount of activity it would take to defend both belts regularly would've killed him. The man is still human.

From first interview he was saying he would win both titles and defend them both. And up till he was finally stripped he was adamant that it would "take an army" to take one of his belts and he would keep them both.

Of course he would want to hold it as long as possible, but as soon as he signed on to fight RDA he wasn't going back to 145.

He's already accomplished the dual weight champ scenario

Now that that is over he can focus on LW

Because the champ got himself pregnant and can't fight now until all the lightweight contenders have eliminated each other for him.

Because in his own words, a champion who is fit to fight and not defending his title should be stripped.

Because the champ got himself pregnant and can't fight now until all the lightweight contenders have eliminated each other for him.

And then he can fight Diaz at LW for the belt and further ruin the legitimacy of LW in addition to FW.
