fighters are depleting themselves to make weight and get the biggest advantage while not performing to their best abilities. we always talk about fighter safety so why are we not allowing them to weigh in a few days out or a week out so they're not physically a shell of themselves come fight night. its safer for fighters and they will perform better from being properly hydrated. this helps ufc build a better product for future endeavours. why would you want to see fighters do harm to themselves. alot of them arent smart enough to work anywhere else so why back them into this corner. they are here to makes us all happy.

To he honest, I'd prefer to go the other way and have weigh ins just before they walk out and fight.

or fighters could just, you know, not cut an unsafe amount of weight

Or how bout a month before?

It's bullshit these guys can't fight 50 lbs under natural weight. And hold a belt with a number on it that they maintain for 30 minutes the entire year.

Why not fight in a division that doesn't make you kill yourself to make weight?

So your answer is to give them the ability to do an even crazier weight cut. You thought this one through - I can tell.

Sorry, I know your intention is good, but your suggestion (IMO) is stupid.

if you are talking about fighter safety, then the safest is to simply not allow fighters to cut weight beyond their in-shape weight.

They should check a week out, and then daily for the full week, including the day of the fight (and if possible, before entering the cage).

Allow a 1-2 LBs difference from the first time they weight all the way into the fight.

They would not be able to stay dehydrated for so long, which means they would fight at their optimal weight.

This way you ensure this is not about who can cut most weight, and everyone will be at their best shape for the fight.

Problem solved!

The commissions are looking to add more weightclasses anyway

Lets just go old school and make the ufc open weight. Could u imagine how Bork Laser vs MM would go down?!?

They would deplete themselves even more because they know they would have a whole week to recover before the fight. People would be cutting even more weight.

The only good thing about that would be they would not be dehydrated for the fight.

Lol, if we implement this we are about to see Miocic fighting at the weight his body looks, WW

Yep. Once one week ahead, maybe allowing a 5lbs difference. Then the regular weigh in the day before the fight. Then again a quick weigh in before stepping into the octagon.

I don't know why this thread got wastelanded. This fucking weight cut cheating needs to stop. Some mod obviously has no clue about anything.
