It's silly to dismiss Cyborg's resume by saying she is a can crusher, while Ronda's resume...

It's not really impressive either.

Quoting someone here "Cyborg's resume is filled with 'who's that chick' exception being Gina and Marloes"

But the very same could be said about Ronda's opponents. The only reason the most of them is relatively known is just because they fought Ronda. Bethe Correia, Faith Van Duin, Alexis Davis, Charmaine Tweet (to mention a few) aren't all that far skill-wise. Miesha Tate is a little bit above them, but considering the bigger picture, WMMA is shallow in terms of skill.

If it was not thanks to the UFC work of promotion to sell these girls as much more than they really are (and we are very used to it in male MMA, right Joe?), we wouldn't have even listened about these girls she beat.

Most of rondas division is garbage. The main reason anyone knows them, is because they fight in the UFC. There's a few exceptions, but her first title "defense" to the belt she was given was against Liz carmouche.

A side effect of stanzolol is that it makes people look more like cans.

Both divisions are garbage. Can't wait for the day when these two fade into obscurity.

Is Joanna the WMMA GOAT yet

Hondas opponents have a combined overwhelmingly winning record, Cyborgs don't. Just a simple fact

Is that why Josh Barnett has been such a long term champion? What about Melendez? Did his steroid use make him LW champ?

To be honest Alexis Davis is not that amazing but she still beats everyone on Cyborgs record and does so with relatively easy. McMann ,Miesha and Zingano would be favored against all of them and Kaufman/Carano would be 50/50. Rest is comparable but just cant wipe the sight from the mind of Liz Caramouche pounding Coenen relentlessly and ref pondering whether he should step in or not.

Ronda has beaten the best fighters in a division that's markedly better than the division Cyborg fights in. And she didn't just beat them, it was fucking destruction.

I'm not a huge Ronda fan, but to try to take that away from her and act like 135 and 145 are comparable is just being a hater.

Welcome to Sherdog. Those kinds of arguments are always stupid. Big Nog lost several fights after his two Fedor fights. It does not diminish Fedor's victories.

Saying the opponents of fighter X have a combined statistics of, say, 100-90 may not say much by itself. Maybe he fought all those fighters in their primes, who then went on to have long careers with lots of losses at the end. (Think Ray Robinson in boxing.) Or maybe all his opponents fought murderer's rows in their careers. If you only fight top-ranked fighters, your career is not going to look that great on paper. We do not have enough information to make a judgment.

Before we begin, allow me to say that I dislike Ronda as well, and when it comes to Ronda and Cyborg fighting, I think they are both full of shit. (because the minute I post data, I will be accused of being a Ronda fan or a white knight or something equally foolish because some people dislike things like reality).

Compare winning percentages. Ronda's opponents have a significantly higher percentage of wins at the time of their fight.

Ronda's resume features multiple BJJ black belts, wrestlers, and an Olympic silver medalist.

Cyborg's features one BJJ black belt. Two, actually, but she lost to one of them, despite coming in 6.5 lbs. heavy for that fight.

All but one of the top ten at 145 have losses to women at 135 and / or 125, including Marloes Coenen, who is Cyborgs best win. She has four losses to 135'ers, and one to someone who is fighting at 125 (Roxanne Modafferi).

You mention Alexis Davis who had been training for 14 years at the time of her fight with Ronda, including wrestling (high school) JJ and then BJJ (under Cesar Gracie, and fought Kyra Gracie at worlds (Gracie won on points, no sub for either). Two of the women you mention as not being worth much were at 145, and ranked. That should tell you about that division in comparison to the 135 lbs. division (which is not the most talent stacked WMMA division either). You mention Faith Van Duin, who has never fought Ronda, but I agree she is nothing special. She did lose to Cyborg, though. Charmaine Tweet lost to both of them, 46 seconds to Cyborg, 49 to Ronda.

Or Sara McMann: Olympic silver medalist, silver and two bronze at worlds, two Pan American golds, competed in wrestling since 1994. Last world level competition in wrestling - 2007. Switched to MMA, signed with SF in 2010. Undefeated at time of Rousey fight and 20 years of wrestling and MMA experience.

Hell, even Zingano has been competing in wrestling since age 12, and became a 4-time All American. She won the Mundials (bjj) and started MMA before Rousey did.

Not going to bother to keep going, it is clear you did not really do your homework before starting this thread.

Davis is a black belt under Cesar Gracie, and has done a shitload of grappling competitions. Here she is against Kyra Gracie, whom some people seem to appreciate:

I could tell TS was gonna be honest about the situation when he listed Ronda's opponents and named the 4 worst girls she fought.

Ronda's 3 best wins > better than any Cyborg opponent

most of the fighters that faced cyroid were not in her division
ronda is fighting people in her division

lol cyborg's resume makes Ronda look like fucking GSP.

A good way to compare would be through their opponent's combine w/l records.
