The UFC is probably gonna stay domestic because WME clients are domestic.

WME is going to quickly make a profit by getting a good network deal with ESPN and sell the UFC before their stocks drop.

The Chinese overlords would have expanded the UFC and we'd have double the events. We'd have early morning events for UFC Asia shows and primetime American events.

I guess it's time for you to invent a time machine and prove us wrong.

You know how important the Olympic medals are to the Communists? They would have lots of fixed fights to make the Chinese look superior. If you could please the Chinese government, you would have tons of business opportunities there.

Chinese or Zionist overlords - pick your poison. The rest of the world belongs to one of the two camps.

Ari Emanuel net worth: 35 million

Jianling Wang net worth: 35 billion, richest man in Asia, most powerful businessman in China, extremely close ties with the highest level of CCP leadership, most of whom hold hundreds of millions in stock in Dalian Wanda, largest movie theater operator in the world, highest revenue-generating film company in the world, owns 13% movie theaters in the US, owns Legendary entertainment, owns significant stock in Sony Pictures, owns broadcasting rights to FIFA until 2022, in talks to purchase 49% of Paramount Pictures

WTF was Lorenzo even thinking selling to the peasant???

Wanda is making these multi billion dollar purchases left and right for the past couple of years and they're showing no signs of slowing down, because they're sitting on hundreds of billions. Ari had to borrow 1.8 billion just to purchase the UFC, and now has to lay off a ton of people and refocus on the domestic market to cut costs and recoup. Wang gave his kid 600 million USD as a birthday present. He'd spend 1.8 billion in a month.

The Chinese box office will become the biggest in the world by 2017. The richest man in China has his fingers in all pies.

Check out who these people are: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanda_Group#Diversification_push

The UFC purchase would literally be a drop in the bucket for them. For WME-IMG on the other hand it's a significant financial burden, and they have no means of pushing the product into the 1.5-billion strong Chinese market, whereas Wang could wave his hand and his will would be done.

Dalian Wanda's major acquisition/investments over the past 5 of years:

AMC theater chain (2.6 billion)
Legendary entertainment (3.5 billion)
Sunseeker luxury yachts (0.5 billion)
Hoyts (Australian movie chain) (0.36 billion)
Investment in Sony Pictures which gives them creative control (undisclosed amount)
Infront Sports & Media (FIFA broadcasting rights) (1.2 billion)
In talks to purchase 49% Paramount Pictures stock (4 billion)
World Triathlon Corporation (0.65 billion)

UFC (4.2 billion) Lorenzo you fucking goof you done f'd up

China is having a badass kickboxing scene with Kunlun, WLF and other organizations, bringing elite kickboxers to fight frequently in China. I don't want MMA to spoil that, so thank you Mr. Wang for not buying.

UFC missed their chances of world domination by not going to the Chinese overlords

I would have much less of a problem if they sold to an American company that's comparable to Dalian Wanda.

but WME-IMG isn't even close, and they're under a lot of financial strain as a result of the loans, it makes no sense. They're not even looking to expand into untapped markets. What are they going to do in North America? This market is almost saturated anyway. SMH.

Dana said in an interview that there was an even higher offer on the table, but they went with the buyers whom they think will be best for the sport.

I'm assuming the other buyer is Dalian Wanda, and the Ferittas went full retard because they knew Ari and Wang is a stranger with 10x more money than they do.

That right there should tell you who's best for the sport. I'll take Lorenzo's opinion over all the internet business majors that have appeared on here the last two weeks.

Then they would put random shitty Chinese fighters in UFC by the hundreds and UFC would become pretty lame then

Guys here are ignorant about China. You can have 1000 billion, and lose all the money the other day because of some political reasons. The unpredictability would be bad for the UFC if the Chinese acquired it

WME bought UFC for its money making potential. Their isnt many companies that are capable of making millions overnight like a ufc ppv can, then theirs also the selling of sports media rights that are very lucrative.

Wme is in this for the long haul and you dont buy something for 4 billion if you dont see its potential

In hindsight it looks like the Fertittas dun goofed considering how much better the economy in China is than us
