Yes some of these fighters are guys who couldn't make it in any other sport. But a lot of these guys are life long athletes such as sage and Ronda. People who didn't try out in other sports but realized that this was the sport to them. If Sidney Crosby or steph curry or djokovic tried their luck in the UFC, the would get handled. Why would you put down our athletes that give us so much to live for? Why be like a bunch of crabs in a bucket where we continually pull down the crabs trying to get out of the bucket.

We should be supporting out athletes and encouraging them to be better. And reach higher then ever before. Buying fight kits and shit.

I even started paying for ppv events whenever I can.

I think it's more about the talent pool of MMA being shallow and giving an impression that anyone can become good at it. Also, some decent MMA fighters started training late in their life or came from other sports and were immediately successful.

Americans care too much about how much NFL players can lift. Jump an run yet all of them could get killed by Ruan Potts under a minute

Because of the women's 135 division.

Jj Watt would never be able to avoid that high kick.

Because we obsess over money and think 6'9 210 lb walking noodles who can't bench 185 are the peak of athleticism.

You know Colin Kapernick respects the hands of Ruan Potts.

Football maybe, but there aren't that many sports where somebody, no matter how naturally talented, can be at the top level within 5 years of training. Can you imagine someone picking up tennis and then winning Wimbledon 4 years later? Nobody who started playing after age 15 would ever in their life take a single game off anybody in the top 1,000, yet Jones established himself as one of the best ever like 5 years after he began training. Then guys like Schaub and Mitrione show up on TUF with almost no experience and have pretty good careers, Manuwa had no base and started training at like 28..

Its because the level of athleticism in MMA is embarrassing. It's for people who never found a niche in real sports. Thats okay, they can fight and entertain us. That's their role now and some do it very well, even given their lack of athleticism/skill.

There is good and bad athletes in every sport, but on average, the nba has much better athletes than the ufc, it isn't even close. Having been around longer, and having more money plus a bigger talent pool all make that happen. Athleticism also can play a major factor in fights, and certainly isn't a disadvantage. Have someone like Cains skills with Lebrons athleticism would be one scary monster.

haha so dumb the 5 best soccer players on earth are better athletes than lebron

Having great conditioning, speed, coordination and agility.... then adding twice the size is pretty significant. Certain sports cater to certain builds, but to ignore the size difference is silly. That is what amazes people about athletes like Lebron, having those quality at the size he is. Yea, drugs definitely help, but all athletes are using them.
