GSP did what Aldo couldn't

People keep acting like "promoting yourself" means you have to talk shit like Conor McGregor does. GSP proved that isn't true.

-He learned English as a second language
-He did all the media appearances he could
- Most importantly, he told his story everytime they put him on camera. On every UFC PRIMETIME or whenever he was on TUF, he would tell everyone how he was bullied, how he learned martial arts etc. He also speaks openly and honestly about himself

and it won people over. He became a huge fucking draw even when he put on boring decisions, just because people liked him.

Its a damn shame because Aldo has one of the GOAT MMA background stories of growing up as a poor favela kid, or how he would sleep in the gym etc. If he had learned English and shared that story, he probably would draw more than 200k a fight, and wouldnt be fucking crying about the UFC not caring about him

It's America's job to learn Portuguese just to appreciate him. Or something.

Aldo is a more skilled fighter than GSP.

And Aldo was worse than a favela kid, he was a jungle kid before that

i thought this would be about terminating ufc contract.

I'm not sure the language issue is fair to raise, given the amount of interaction Georges would have had with Anglophones in Quebec/the rest of Canada. Much easier to learn when you've been exposed to it your whole life

Imagine if Football or Basketball players got paid based on how many people watched their games.

UFC is not a sports league though, its a joke of a company.

Don't compare MMA to a major sport, it isn't one. Networks buy all the games outright so there's no PPV platform.

the owners of the team get paid on how many people watch their games

then they determine how much to pay the players

I don't get the problem people have with subtitles or translators.

Also I don't remember a whole lot of primetimes with Aldo.

Edit: Also there are many successful fighters that speak English. Few of them draw much.

In Brazil and Europe, they do the same thing for UFC. All PPVs are broadcasted on sports channels who the UFC has a deal with.

This is also a big reason why "Aldo isn't a draw." He's not a draw in the States, and the States is where people pay for PPVs.

Why don't you pay the man based on how many views he gets on the network in Brazil? He's one of the main reasons the UFC even has a deal with a sports broadcasting channel in Brazil. Aldo is easily the 3rd biggest Brazilian star they have ever had, with only Vitor and Anderson in front of him.

The UFC doesn't want to abandon the PPV model, because they easily could. Its by choice.

The UFC is seriously discriminating Aldo, no other long time champ has ever been treated the way he is being treated. Apart of it is his own fault, but it is still very unequal treatment and its very blatant and disrespectful.

GSP learned English in school. GSP is from Canada which primary language is English, even if French Canada is somewhat segregated.

Aldo has done every media that he was told to. And besides you know jackshit about what he does in Brazil.

That is not necessarily true. Tom Brady isn't paid based on viewership week to week.
