So Cecilia had a tremendous victory tonight against Anne-Sophie Mathis. Some of you will recognize Mathis's name from 2011 when she brutally K.O'ed Holly Holm.

"Cecilia Brækhus took to the squared circle and went toe-to-toe with Anne Sophie Mathis in a fight that lasted all of two rounds, as Brækhus was able to knock out Sophie-Mathis inside two rounds. The dominant world-class boxer retained her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and IBO female welterweight titles, and took to the microphone after the fight to issue a challenge toCristiane “Cyborg” Justino.

Brækhus and “Cyborg” have a bit of a history together, and oddly enough, it all started on social media when the boxer reached out to the mixed martial artist. We are in a day and age where fans are always anxiously awaiting the next big bout, and a cross-sport super fight between the two stars may be materializing before our very eyes. “Cyborg” has expressed interest in eventually stepping into the ring with Brækhus, but as it stands, a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship stands in the way.

If “Cyborg” cannot work out a fair deal with UFC President Dana White in the near future, it is not out of the realm of possibilities for “Cyborg” to make the transition to the boxing ring to throw down with Brækhus. As a matter of fact, rumor has it that “Cyborg’s” contract with the UFC may already be through. If this is, in fact true, this will make the negotiations between Brækhus and “Cyborg” that much easier. However, if the contract is still intact, “Cyborg” will be eyeing top-tier talent from the women’s bantamweight division to meet her for a bout.

She has put her striking on display both performances inside the octagon and has proven repeatedly throughout her career that she truly packs power in every punch she throws.

Do you think this fight will go down?"

Callout at 23:15. Unfortunately the quality is atrocious

Here is a short video of the stoppage:

Cecilia and Cyborg talked about a boxing superfight between them back in July and after tonight Cecilia said they would start working on the superfight right away. Let's hope the UFC brass doesn't torpedo this fight.

Cecilia weighed in at 66.6 kg for the fight which is 146.8 lbs and she is 1.71 m tall while Cyborg is 1.73 so they are very similar in size and Cyborg won't have to starve herself to death before the fight if it were to happen.

But I thought Ronda Rousey was the best female boxer?

{<RR}

An MMA fighter going up against a top boxer in a boxing match is only ever going to end with the boxer winning.

I'd rather see Anderson Silva knock Roy Jones' shot chin the fuck out.

She didn't knock Mathis out though. But I'd be interested in that fight.

It's very possible but Cyborg is something else. I admire her courage. She fought one of the best female kickboxers in the world in Jorina Baars and although she lost she still brought it.

Cecilia wins boxing only match. Cyborg wins mma fight (or real fight). Obviously.

Here is the exchange they had earlier this year.

Absolutely, she'll try (and they'll both make money) but the skill sets aren't equal.
MMA fighters do have a shot in kick boxing but not with boxing, it's just so much more specialised.

A pure boxer has no chance in a kickboxing or MMA fight. Well not quite no chance, the boxer might win by ko early but that's about it. Any kickboxer just kicks the boxer in the legs/body/head and an mma fighter just kicks the boxer and takes them down.

With Dana fucking Cyborg over, this would be a great fight for Cyborg to jump ship to boxing.

And why, in the boxer's last name, are the 'a' and 'e' fucking?

Plenty of boxers would have a decent chance in a kickboxing fight considering they'd have some time to prepare before everything is arranged and finalized. In depends on boxer's style and also what kind of opponent he's facing in kickboxing but it's not like putting someone without grappling skills into MMA. Also remember that a lot of boxers used to do kickboxing and then switched over to boxing because the money is bigger.

Civilized countries like Norway has 3 additional letters in the alphabet ;)

Personally I think it's a terrible decision for Cyborg, I know that women boxing doesn't have the talent pool of male boxing but it's still a very risky fight not in terms of just losing the fight but also getting a brutal career shortening beating. Boxing is the most dangerous combat sport out there and if you're outclassed and the opponent gives you a real one sided beating it can really shorten a career.

Cyborg should at have some tune up fights against lower level female boxers first and get some basic experience.

Brækhus is great, and I'm so happy we finally had pro-boxing legalized in Norway, so she got to fight in our country. But she's crazy if she thinks she's gonna go in there and beat Cyborg in MMA.

But meh, Holly did destroy Rousey, utilizing only her stand up game, so anything's possible.

In my dreams she beats Cyborg, becomes a huge star, and brings the UFC to Norway as well.

That's a long stretch though. MMA is still illegal here, which is fucking ridiculous.

Cyborg can't even get past Baars in kickboxing. She'd get tooled in boxing by Braekhus.

Also thought TS was Armbabarian for a second.

She is not that skinny any longer.. great fighter though!
