With its debut event at Madison Square Garden finalized, the UFC is now turning its attention to nearby Albany, N.Y.
Gian Villante vs. Patrick Cummins is in the works for the Dec. 9 card, which will mark the first UFC show in New York's capital city, MMA Fighting has learned. The promotion has yet to officially announce the light-heavyweight fight.
Villante (14-7) was originally scheduled to fight on the Nov. 12 UFC 205 card at MSG against Marcos Rogerio de Lima, however, he was recently forced to withdraw from the fight due to a minor knee injury. The native of Long Island, N.Y. is looking to rebound after most recently losing to Ilir Latifi at UFC 196.
Cummins (8-4), meanwhile, is hoping to snap a two-fight losing streak. He hasn't fought since his loss to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 198.
UFC Fight Night 102 will take place at the Times Union Center in Albany. The organization has yet to book a main event.
