The value of a belt is not just beating the Champion, but also having to go through the ringer of top fighters in that weight class or emptying out a different class.

In addition, Alvarez isn't someone who is lacking compelling opponents. Hell... Khabib is fighting on the same card doubling as an emergency late replacement (in that case, it would naturally be for an Interim Belt hahaha).

Even if McGregor gets his 2nd belt. Won't mean much to anybody but himself and casual fans.
