Why are people talking as if 145lbs women division doesn't have a talent pool?

There are plenty of women who weigh around that weight and are talented athletes.

Right now there maybe aren't many of them practicing MMA but if WMMA grows then they will inevitably come in the future.

Plenty of decent women fighters around that weight or higher in judo and wrestling not to mention Olympic and pro boxing like Laila Ali, Ann Wolfe...

Women in that division actually could have some one punch KO power like that tall girl with some German last name who has like a 4 second KO win over Ashley Evans Smith but had to retire due to retarded sparring wars in Team Alpha Male (AKA team of males alpha'd by Dominick Cruz). We could actually see some decent KOs.

So what if Cyborg would dominate the first few years of those division? Eventually some girl would come and beat her and it would be a great passing of the torch. You had plenty of dominant champs in early HW boxing and no one complained. Cyborg would be a great reference point, a legit WMMA ATG from that division.

Also, it's ridiculous how people use the "sex sells" argument and how you can't sell "large women" and Cyborg because they aren't attractive as if all women at 145 or higher look like that.

Personally I find tall women more attractive and some of the higher weight classes have the most attractive female fighters.

Christina Hammer is 5'11'' and fights at 160

Both are way better looking than chubby short Ronda IMO.

Here you go, KO power at 145 WMMA.

Probably a lack of knowledge about a division that isn't in the UFC.

Is normal

Oh so there is a large talent pool of Female fighters at 145 lbs but they just aren't in mma? What a stupid thing to say, there isn't a talent pool at 145 because 145 has no talent besides Cyborg.Besides her,the top ten at 145 lose to almost all the current UFC BW's on the roster easily,it's pretty simple.

Fricken Julia Budd is #3 and the game has passed Coenen by and she's ranked #2.Hell alexis dufresne, who was basically laughed out of the UFC just beat the #2 ranked girl at 145.The entire division is by FAR the worst recognized division in all of mma.How can you simpletons not understand this?

I been watching her for a few years, she has good power but is a terrible mma fighter as far as UFC level is concerned,so what's your point?

Just did a quick Google search of Christina Hammer. Good work @Hi-Tech

Actually attractive.

Just something people keep repeating to justify and protect their crushes in the 135 lbs division.

They are big girls out there if you build it and show them the money they will come plus the GOAT female in MMA also fights at 145 that's a fucking good start right there.

Also add in 125 many girls would fit right in and won't be forced to make 115 or stuff up to 135.

Started following Christina Hammer on instaclam. Thanks TS guy :D

WFW division exists for a long time outside UFC and no, there isn't many girls to fill at least 15 spots in UFC.

It is a shallow division like HW or maybe LHW, I'd prefer to see Atomweight division which in fact has some legit fighters

Very, very few of the women who are that size have shown interest in moving to MMA despite the impact Elite XC, Strikeforce and Invicta have had over the years. Almost all of the growth, and migration from other sports, has come predominantly from bantamweight or below when you factor in weight cutting in MMA.

Again, it's not like there isn't a home for them to go and begin their MMA journey. Between the local circuits and Invicta, they exist. We simply don't see any because they aren't interested unlike their counterparts.

Right. More than 50% of Cyborgs competition has fought or regularly fights in a lighter weight class. Half at 135, half at 125, or two weight classes down, because there is no one for her to fight.

From a previous post:

Here, allow me. From here:

Cyborg #1
#2: Marloes "Rumina" Coenen (23-7) - Lost to Tate (135) Dufresne (135) and Roxanne Modafferi (125) and Cindy Dandois (135)
#3: Julia Budd (8-2) - Lost to Rousey and Nunes, both fight at 135.
#4: Charmaine Tweet (9-5) - lost to Rousey.
#5: Arlene Blencowe (7-5) - three loses to 135'ers, one to Kate Da Silva (125)
#6: Megan Anderson (7-2) Best prospect out there, only been fighting three years, no previous martial arts experience. One loss to Dandois (135)
#7: Alexis Dufresne (6-2) - Both losses to women who fight at BW.
#8: Latoya Walker (5-1) - Only one so far without a loss to someone in a lighter weight class. Only has six total fights. Lost to Charmaine Tweet
#9: Daria Ibragimova (9-2) - Loss to Dandois (135)
#10: Amanda Bell (3-4) - do I even need to bother, I mean, she has a losing record.
#11: Peggy Morgan (4-4) Google pics of deformed head after last fight.

The women fighting at 145 in the top ten do better when fighting each other, and lose more often when fighting the women at 135, or, in some cases, 125, which speaks volumes about the talent level of the division. And what is says is not good at all. Also note that the women who lost to Rousey are all first round losses.

So why do people say this? Because it is true.

Ronda the Natural Forty-fiver versus Cris the Cannot Cut Cyborg for the strap: UFC 207. Make it happen Ari!

So what? It doesn't mean that talented fighters won't come in the future. There isn't that much talent at 135 either, especially if 125 is created half of the fighters will move there.

They build the 135 division around Ronda why wouldn't they build a 145 division around Cyborg?

If you want to give 145 time to develop, do it in Invicta. Some of the top 10 women at 145 are already signed with Bellator. The competition just isn't there to warrant a division in the UFC

What is UFC level for WMMA? The reality is the talent pool is pretty shit in all weight divisions.

LOL this. Bethe is UFC-level and even got a TS.

Veronica Rottweiler or whatever her last name is actually had legit KO power. Too bad TAM idiots wasted her talent by putting her in sparring wars constantly which lead to her retiring due to too many concussions.

Fear of the unknown. it is easier to shut things out than it is to educate yourself on them.
