I mean, it seems like a pointless job, when it's really Dana who makes that decision.

UPDATE: I meant to put Dana in the title. Sherdog. Why can't we edit our thread titles? Come on.

You can edit it tho.

GSP isn't coming out of retirement to fight some stiff. GSP can tell Dana to fuck off. Stay retired until Dana serves him up the opponent he wants to fight.

Always seemed strange to have Joe Silva around when it seems most fighters do ask or go to Dana for possible fights.

dana doesn't do anything. do you know what a matchmaker is??
there are more fights on a card than just the main and co-main event, ya know.

those fights are no brainers and make themselves. it's the rest of the card that's mostly composed of mid-level to unranked fighters that's hard to make. gotta develop prospects and keep up with all the small organizations to find a suitable replacement when someone pulls out of a fight for whatever reason.
dana doesn't do any of that shit, so no, he's not the actual matchmaker

Folks always seem to forget the other variables before bashing the matchmaker. Managing the schedule is probably part of the job too.

Well if we are going that deep in the decision making process, then the quarter is the true matchmaker.

Dana gets involved in the bigger fights and title shits but Joe silva does/did most of the regular match making for 155 and above

Dana basically doesn't have anything to do with matchmaking. Sherdog seems to think that's about all he does lol

How you gonna fire the greatest matchmaker in the world, Joe Silva? (Said in Joe Rogan's voice)
