Did GSP seem like an unhappy champion?

Out of all the UFC champions, GSP always seemed like he was looking for something more. The guy was always in his head, and he never seemed satisfied. His interviews showed a mask, he put on a fake smile and it was like he didn't know what he was searching for anymore, he was just stuck in a loop.

I'm just thinking out of all the UFC champions I have witnessed, he was the most thoughtful and tactical. He would put in 100 percent effort not just in his body, but his gameplan as well. Conor has shown some elements of this, but overall he has a much more positive attitude about his career. He doesn't get sucked into his head as much as GSP seemed to.

So I'm wondering what GSP is looking for when he gets back into the octagon. Maybe it is all he knows at this point. Or simply the paycheck is too good to pass up.

When you are a gentleman among thugs, you mask your sadness with a smile.

I empathize with GSP.

I think he longed to fight like he did pre-Serra, but got hung-up on his legacy and kept to the low risk strategies which he knew weren't fan friendly.
