A champion must defend once a year (within 365 days of their last defense, or title win)

If they don't, they are stripped at the 365 day mark

If a champion pulls out of a fight from injury, then if there is a worthy opponent for the challenger, an interim title immediately is granted. If the Champion does not defend before the 365 day mark, the interim champion is granted the belt...

This would solve any situations such as: Conor/Aldo, Cruz/Barao, Cain, etc.

Will never happen though as the UFC will preffer to use titles and interim titles as they see fit for maximum profit.

Original idea. Except for the other 176 times it's been discussed here....

Are you suggesting this or saying the UFC is proposing this?

Make it 6 months.

We will have to put an asterisk next to Aldo's reign if this is the case.

Id be more for scheduled match.Look at pettis in his situation he was probably healthy to come back way before him and gilbert were put on a card but he got a few extra months off due to filming tuf

I agree. It incentivises smarter training, and prevents them from actively refusing to defend their belts, like Conor.

Champs should have to fight twice a year, not once.

If the title holder knows he'll only have to fight once per year, that's what most of them will do, and then we get 10 title defenses per decade. Fuck that and fuck interim titles. Fight or give it up, plain and simple. If a particular fighter loses his belt due to injury time off, put him first in line to try to regain his title when he's healthy to fight.

I'd go with starting point at maybe 9 or 12 months, and increases (3 months?) for each consecutive defense you've made. Wouldn't want to strip a dominant champion due to technicality, plus you ensure the division doesn't get held hostage.

Wont hPpen for money drawing champs like connor. Cant risk them leaving to bellator because the champ clause is no more if stripped

Fuck this pussy ass one year bullshit
Make it every 30 days like the NWA
Flair once defended against 14 different people in 30 days
Suck on that Cain Velaskwezz

And who will enforce this?
