The hype, the documentaries, etc.
I just finished watching both the "Evolution of CM Punk" documentaries, and I seriously can't see how Punk can even be remotely competitive in the top MMA organization.
Sure, these were filmed a year, or so, ago, but his striking and grappling appeared to be extremely rudimentary. 1 to 2 years of MMA training under your belt is simply NOT adequate enough for the UFC.
I was never a Punk fan in WWE, but I still wish him all the best, and to a certain degree, admire what he's doing. But, there's so much hype surrounding a guy who appears to have virtually no chance of putting up any sort of a fight anytime soon.
Why is the UFC doing this? Is it simply to gain new fans? Dana typically calls it like he sees it, therefore, he can't possibly be thinking Punk will actually be competitive.
I can't even picture Rogan being able to successfully hype up Punk's "skills".
It all seems a tad fishy to me. You've got a TON of hype behind a guy who won't win unless the fight is thrown in order to keep the hype going.
Your thoughts are welcome.
