See the medal in bold italics. Dan Henderson was winning wrestling medals in 1984 and he's about to hold the UFC MW belt in 2017.

I thought that Vitor competing in 1996 and still being around was amazing. This is just comically amazing.

He was only 14 when he won this medal but he did it in the adult/ seniors division.

Mind = Blown

While him getting a win and the belt is a stretch at this point, this is a fucking fantastic bit of information nonetheless. Crazy impressive, whether he gets another belt or not.

See this is why I still have an account. 9/10 of my threads suck -- dominic cruz should use a pankration guard -- and then I dig up this sweet piece of info. That's a token to another 9 shit threads before I have to find something cool again

So I take it you don't believe he will retire?

Hendo is a legend, but he's not UFC champion any more than 2017 is the current year

Im pretty sure he was still competing against other guys around his age for the 1984 Pan American GR tourney. "Senior" doesnt neccesarily mean "old ass dudes". But if he was that means he transcended boy-body before 14. or was able to litterally manhandle man-bodies while still in boy-body form. Rogan always comments how "hard" his body feels. {<hhh]

Helllll no if he wins. Why would he? He has the rest of his lifetime to work $30-$40k soul-sucking jobs wasting away until he dies. If he wins and still competes, he has at least 1, probably more, multi-million $ fights in front of him on the biggest stage in front of the entire world at its most exciting: championship level.

As for brain damage and injuries? He's been doing this shit for 20 years. One or 2 more fights isn't going to make a difference.

If you compete athletically throughout childhood at a high level and have your tendons and supporting structures developed, 14-20 is actually your athletic prime IF you're restricted by weight class. After that, your body starts degrading but you make up for it by gaining size, and corresponding strength and explosiveness, and experience.

Hendo and Couture made from the same dough. The two lasted longer than most in the sport.
