Think about that one. He is literally just going in there, taking you down and submitting you. And to elite mixed martial artists in 2016. Not 1 dimensional bums who never heard of bjj. He doesnt even train striking at all. Pure jiu jitsu grappling.

Demian bless.

Royce was beating guys 10000 times bigger than him tho. And Ken Shamrock...the world's most dangerous man.

Maia wouldn't last 30 seconds against Royces competition.

I think he trains striking enough
to use it to set up his grappling
his striking is not that bad
but it makes way more sense to use it to set up his grappling

Yea that's what Rogan and Eddie said in their fight reaction video, I watched it too.

Different rules, different game. Hardly comparable.

It's the circle of life. (Or the circle of MMA)

They should learn how to fight

His grappling had just evolved with the sport. He is also exceptional on the ground which helps

I'm surprised they even let Ken fight in the UFC. He was simply too dangerous and could have hurt someone badly.

another thread said maia has trained with the olympic team in brazil - so he's done a lot of high level wrestling

also condit said he was rocked by a shot in half guard

so maia is an advanced MMA form of bjj that is just wrecking these well rounded guys

Royce wouldn't last 30 seconds against Maia, no amount of steroids would help him there.

Maia is fighting a completely different level of fighter in terms of skill. What he is doing is even more impressive.

YEs but he has worked his @ss off to try and become a champion, who is a well rounded fighter.

He's doing it today against superior competition and fighters that so much more evolved since Royce days back in 90's. It's super impressive.
