If fighter A is pressing the action and unloading a bunch of wild arm punches that get blocked and evaded by fighter B, and fighter B sneaks in a few crisp left hand pops, fighter A still gets the nod just because he was more active and pressing the action ?

If so that's retarded.

When someone repeatedly shoots for the take down and it's stuffed over and over, the fighter attempting take downs get points for that ?

Is defense NOT included into the MMA scoring criteria? Maybe there should be some emphasis on intelligently defending and not automatically scoring rounds for the ineffective, more active fighter.

MMA scoring for sure needs to be revamped.

Lolololololololololollololololklll defense is for pussies.

i agree should be more draws

Defense is lack of confidence.
Defense is fear.
Defense is getting surprised by a hit somewhere u aren't expecting.
Defense is confusion.

Defense is for pussies. Obviously all this shit is easy to say and type online. I'm mainly talking about striking defence and specifically blocking or specifically trying to block certain shots that you are trying to see. I'm not talking about grappling defense.

Lol, yeah, fighters get a point for every strike they dodge as well. Checking a leg kick is as valuable as getting a take down. Man, we have got a lot of work to do here.

Defense is its own reward. It's part of the scoring criteria in that if you're unsuccessful with your defense, your opponent is scoring points. To award the defending fighter on top of that would be redundant and deter fighters from being aggressive.

Defense isn't scored, it's a reward on its own.

Ineffective strikes aren't scored. Aggression, sure but if you whiff 3 punches and eat a hard counter, effective striking weighs more than aggression it octagon control.

Google "ABC Unified Rules of MMA" it's all right there.

Exactly.

Should be the same for tds imo.
Yeah, takedowns should count for very little on their own. Threatening with submissions, advancing to a dominant position, or landing hard ground strikes are what should count.

Just ask who produced the better offense. That's normally who wins the round and also who SHOULD win the round. Sub attempts are good too.

Only ask additional questions if the above is inconclusive

Fights are judged a 10 point system. With the round winnner gaining 10 points, his opponent 9 or less
Based on effective striking, grappling, aggression, and octagon control.

you don't win a fight by defending

defending just helps you not lose

A good offence is the best defence image.png
