Connor fought two weight classes above against an opponent who was ranked #4 at the time in the division below.

If we apply the same situation across some of the other divisions we get:

1. DJ vs Bryan Caraway at Featherweight.
2. Domonick Cruz vs Ricardo Lamas at Lightweight.
3. Eddie Alvarez vs Carlos Condit at Middleweight.
4. Tyron Woodley vs Yoel Romero at Light Heavyweight.
5. Michael Bisping vs Ryan Bader at Heavyweight.
6. Daniel Cormier vs JDS at Whateverweight.

I'm bored, I'm a whitebelt noob. What do you think the outcomes of the above would be? Does it put any perspective on the Connor/Diaz fights?

Throwing spaghetti at the wall here and seeing what sticks.

Edited to add that I have respect for both fighters and enjoyed both of their fights. I don't really favour one fighter over the other.

Is Bader really the #4 LHW? Damn that division sucks.

Fun game
DJ would school Caraway
Cruz would probably dominate Lamas
Carlos is a terrible style match up for Eddie, he'd chew him up
Tyron vs Romero is a weird fight, Romero probably beats him via being able to explode in the third round
Bader is not a great matchup for Bisping - Bader probably smashes him
DC vs JDS? See Cain vs JDS

I'll see your Conor McGregor, and raise you a Benard Hopkins. Only, Hopkins beat the champ
and was 46 years old...Conor won. That's a good thing. He beat/lost too a top 5 guy in 1 weight class above. Others have done it better and beat the champ.

I know what you mean. Seeing these two face off would seem so out of place.

Also, seems a pretty even spread between the smaller champions winning and the larger #4s :)

Yeah
Remember the differences at the low weight classes go
125-135-145-155
That's 10 pounds
155-170-185-205
Those are big boy weights 15, 20 pounds. Dudes are going to be giving up easily 15ish pounds
I see Carlos being MASSIVE compared to Eddie for example

The part you're missing is that Conor is planning to go to LW, and is probably going to make his home there.

Now, on topic:

DJ beat Caraway
Cruz beats Lamas
Alvarez loses to Condit
Woodley loses to Romero
Bisping has a shot at Bader (Bader slight favourite)
DC beats JDS (pretty badly)

Wrong sport ya goof.

Agree with your picks. Don't think Bader Bisping will be too close though. Especially if Bader can balloon up to heavyweight.
