Props to McGregor for playing the game and making every jabroni on earth a cultist fan of his.

Fought Dennis Siver rather than a nr. 1 contender for his titleshot = smart, Mayweather would have done that.

Fought Chad Mendes on 10 days notice. Chad was percieved by SBG as his hardest match-up because of his wrestling. You can't wrestle for 5 rounds on 10 days notice, as everyone that's done a physical activity knows. Got the hardest match-up out of the way by taking him on 10 days notice = smart, Mayweather would have done that

Fought Jose Aldo for the title. Can't really call a title fight risky, when it's the end-goal for everyone. Nobody runs from a title fight. Even Mayweather would have done that.

Schedules himself to fight RDA for a second belt. Losing against RDA he can still call the shots at FW, beating him he has a once-in-history achievement having never defended his belt on the way. Got to keep his FW belt aswell, while other champions were only offered a second title-shot by dropping their own belt. No risk here, Mayweather would have done that.

Fought Nate Diaz on 10 days notice. This is the only risk of his career, losing this fight actually had implications for his future career as he would have to defend his belt next and couldn't get free title shots. This was after he KOd Aldo in 13 seconds, he was very high on himself at this point and funny enough the one risk he takes is a loss.

Fought Nate Diaz in a rematch at 170 again. The world talks only about Conor fighting a much bigger man, he was already finished by Nate. This fight could only improve his image. The alternative was to defend his belt, something that was still an alternative after a second loss = smart, Mayweather would have done that

Wants to fight Eddie Alvarez for the belt is back to the RDA scenario, smart = Mayweather would have done that.

I welcome the jimmy rustled Conor fans as they realized the guy takes no risks as he always enters the fight that leaves him the most options with a potential loss. I expect Aldo KO gifs, Nate memes and Conor hyperbole on full blast. Do your best frail computer nerds

Did you really have to make a spin off thread?

Lame.

If he wanted to play it safe he would stay at FW.

Say what you will about the guy but taking fights at higher weight classes (even talking about fighting Lawler) is the sort thing we have immortalized BJ Penn for...

Didn't have to fight juice head Mendez
Didn't have to fight RDA (RDA went running)
Didn't have to fight Nate
Didn't have to fight Nate again

go fuck yourself if you think that Mayweather never took any risks. Mayweather BOUGHT OUT HIS CONTRACT AND LEFT HIS PROMOTER because he couldn't fight Oscar De La Hoya with them. He left Top Rank to be his own promoter, fought the biggest star in the sport of boxing, moved up to his weight class and won. This is 5000x the risk any mma fighter has ever made

He did have to fight Mendes tho. He knew he had to fight Mendes. His head coach has explained it all in detail.
Didn't have to fight Nate, only risk in his career. Didn't have to rematch Nate, but the alternative is defending his belt = actual risk.

Nate Diaz wasn't perceived as any risk either at the time. The alternatives were the likes of Cowboy, Khabib and Tony Ferguson.

Nate Diaz was a case of cherry pick gone horribly wrong. It was like Floyd being overwhelmed by Maidana in the first fight but unlike Conor Floyd is a real elite fighter and got the job done in the end.

What would the hard route have been when Jose pulled out the first time? What would have been the hard route after knocking out Jose in 13? What would have been the hard route after rda pulled out? What would have been he hard route after losing to Diaz?

Thread sucks.

he has literally never turned down a fight. and that nate fight was the riskiest possible fight for him - the bigger man who beat him soundly before.

Fighting anyone on short notice isn't something everyone is prepared to do. May I remind you of Jon Jones and Chael. He's done it numerous times so far. Plus going up in weight.

Lol 5 years after it should have happened. Mayweather is a play it safe runner. I actually wouldn't compare conors fighting style to floyds. Conor is at least fun to watch

Imagine if Diaz fought cowboy!! Derp.

People make a fuss about him "ducking" Paul Williams, Margarito, Cotto and Pacquiao.

Thing is. Williams was a huge guy and had a career ending injury anyways.

Margarito is a proven cheater and was never the same after he got busted. His "power" all of a sudden went out he window.

Mayweather fought Cotto and Pacquiao and people say they were old already.

Then again, Cotto went on to destroy Sergio Martinez. Pacquiao also made Bradley look silly right after his fight with Mayweather.

Other than that, Berto, Ortiz, Maidana, Alvarez, Guerrero, Mosley, Marquez, Hatton, De La Hoya, Judah, Castillo and Corrales are some of the best names to beat in boxing.

TS identified as a fool in the space of 12 hours.

Multiple guys have title shots fall through, the usual thing to do is sit and wait, see Tyron

LOL at "actual risk", no one gives a fook about belts, he had way more than a belt on the line in the Nate rematch, money, bargaining power, the McGregor brand etc...Whats he risking by going to 145? None of those guys have even been able to give him a fight yet.

Defending his belt obviously. Your IQ sucks.
