How much better would the Diaz brothers be with a real camp? I'll throw Jake Shields in here too. I see them as the product of long hours of hard work but an incomplete package. Somehow I don't see Cesar Gracie as a top mma camp; jew jiff sue, yes. And Richard Perez. Probably a good boxing coach, but I don't see him as a kickboxing/mma coach.
So there they are, mediocre kicks, no takedowns or wrestling, and no game plan. Am I missing something? Would these guys be at another level with a good camp? with the skills they bring they excel, but how much better could they have been?

Real camp? Lol They train with shields, Gil and both Diaz Bro's. It's one of the most successful camps ever.

They see it as loyalty I'd imagine so that limits the growth.

Sucks as staying at one gyms most likely limits your growth as a fighter.

Not sure if it's like that in MMA but there's a stigma against perceived gym hoppers in other combat sports. Might be true in MMA also, as some people have mentioned dislike for Alistair and Vitor over that.

Been around for a decade, never won a significant belt. Unless you call the Strikeforce WW belt significant...

Yeah. The organization that had Cormier, overeem, Rockhold, Jacare, Diaz, hendo, etc etc etc.

Yes, that was a legit organization lol

They train with great fighters and have top notch specialists for coaches but gameplanning and strategy has always been the Diaz bros biggest weakness. They really need that head coach character to run things and put everything together.

You can have the best coach ever but if your fighters don't trust you than it's worthless. Gracie and his fighters have a connection and that's priceless.

That doesn't change the fact that there's an element missing from that camp that they could really use.

They definitely could do with switching things up a bit. They need to evolve. Throw some spinning shit.

No, it's not one of the most successful camps ever, not even in the running. Those guys have done tremendous with what they got, but what they are not is the complete package.

I don't think so. Nick and Nate aren't the types to thrive in an unfamiliar environment. They would rather go on losing or getting pulled from fights than put themselves outside of their comfort zones in any way. I don't think their egos could handle a big camp where they are not the top dawgs.

The Diaz have been fighting for more than a decade and they're still not using kicks. That would be like a concert piano player refusing to use his pinky fingers...

Shield has never developed any striking whatsoever. Gil got sub'd by Pettis. Still, we got to give credit where it's due: the Diaz bro have broken a UFC record Saturday:

The first brothers to break the 20 losses landmark. Never again will brothers share more than 20 losses and still remain relevant...

Who did Nick win his strikeforce belt against? Who was his best defense? You named a bunch of guys not in his weight class. His best win in strikeforce was daley, so I wouldn't say the strikeforce ww belt is anywhere near as prestigious as a ufc belt. & to say the they're one of the most successful camps ever is you trolling.

I do agree. Being taken out of your comfort zone and moving to new coaches would probably help bring their games to a new level.
