he turns 29 next month. Most fighters mature to the best balance of fight IQ, maturity, And athleticism in their early 30s. While in their 20s, the athleticism is there, but the fight intelligence tends to lack.. We still have a good 6 years with him until we see a decline

So poor old Sage has like a decade to go before he's prime

So is Erick Silva, that kid has a lot of potential.

Jon's fighting intelligence has always been off the charts, even in his early 20's. Scary to to think it's just getting better...

It doesn't work like that. Jones is in his prime now, or rather was before he became a criminal.

You don't count a fighters prime in regards to his age, you count the years active. Jones has been active for a while now.

He will lose his next fight, and he'll probably make a comeback after that, but that will also last 3-4 fights. After that he's done.

Jones does rely on his athleticism a lot. I'm not sure how much of that is size or something that depletes with age, but a lot of his success is due to physical superiority.

And most aspects of athleticism do start declining in your late 20s.. it's possible that Jones could go down early like great fighters like Shogun and Wanderlei. GSPs physical decline at that age also really really declined him as a fighter even though he kept winning.

For some reason, I have a hard time imagining him winning fights at 32, 33. Even if he keeps winning, he's definitely going to become a worse fighter unless he becomes UberJones.

It could happen. It's always tough to tell when a fighters wheels will fall off.

Jones prime started on July 19 1987, he hasn't peaked or plateaued just yet, this guy is only prime.
