What actually happened guys?

You continuously would hear about Anderson liking to counter-strike from commentators and critics alike, but I'm not willing to accept that as the reason why this fight went this way.

People always say that it started with Cote, which I guess is arguable. Thing is, Silva genuinely looked like he wasn't even trying against Thales, almost like they were friends and he didn't want to hurt him.

Silva ACTUALLY LOST ROUNDS to Leites, literally gave 1 or 2 away by getting taken down a few times.

I will also say that Leites was an absolute embarrassment with all of the flopping to his back.

I know Maia came after this fight, and that was relatively similar - but at least he beat Maia up in that one.

This fight was a staring contest.

Theories?

If i remember correctly, Thales got this fight because he beat Marquardt in a title eliminator. I believe Nate had 2 point deductions, one was from a knee to a downed Thales. Joe Silva said he was very impressed that Thales continued after the knee. That's how the fight happened. And why it shouldnt have.

Well Leites was hyped as a grappling specialist an it's not like he was trying to KO Silva on the feet so it made for a boring fight.

The fight was awful, and one of the reasons was because Thales is not a aggressive striker, he didn't really come forward, and Silva is a counter striker, so they just ended up staring for the most part. Silva seemed half asleep in the fight and Thales striking was still very raw at that time. I remember that event was actually quite a good event up until the main event. Shogun KO'd Chuck on that one

That was Leites fault.

Sometimes I just wish the year was 1998. Was such a good year.

Oh yeah...

Resident Evil 2, Half Life, Gran Turismo and MGS. Those were the days.

tell me about it.. and Zelda Ocarina of Time, Wario Land 2, Pokemon Red version (charizard all the way !). Aaaah man...

Silva/Letites was so uneventful that people are talking about video games from 1998 instead

Also Pokemon Red is objectively the best game in that pic

Damn you had to bring up some boring ass shit didnt you?

Id have to say Silva/Leites and Maia were the most dissapointing of Silva's defenses. Even Dana hated strapping the belt on him afta

He got 1 take down in the 2nd round, and that was the only Thing he did.

No way silva lost 2 rounds of that fight.

I remember silva got a lot of hate on sherdog for kicking leites knees over and over again.

Funny thing is before that fight you never really seen mma fighters throw that kick much, now you got guys like jones who have made it a staple of their offense

It was a garbage fight because of Leites' scared performance.
