Going back to this classic, u guys know what shocked me the most?
It was not the ending knockout, but the ability of Dan Henderson to control Fedor against the cage for a good time.

Even Dan was kinda surprised he was able to do so.

So, i ask my sherbros that train UFC, lol: how come a smaller Hendo was able to put Emelianenko against the cage and stay there for a good amount of time? Was it technique, strenght or a bit of both? Dan was full on TRT in his last Strikeforce run and had a great performance against Feijao prior to this fight.

Thank you.

Finish gave me chills. But to answer your question TS Hendo is a Greco specialist, excellent upper body leverage and control. On top of that Joe Rogan said he is a ball of muscle, and Daniel Cormier said he is the strongest man he has faced in the octagon, despite him fighting at HW.

Hendo wasn't that much smaller then Fedor. He was only smaller by 20 lbs, and at that size and not to mention a good 15 lbs of Fedors weight was fat, they were the same weight as far as muscle mass goes. Not to mention Dan was a high level wrestler as well.

Just thought I'd remind you the fight only lasted a total of 4 minutes and a fair chunk of that was frantic.

Your thread might lead someone (who's never seen the fight) to believe Hendo employed some god likke cage control for 10 minutes, and it wasn't anything remotely near that.

And let's not pretend that we didn't ALL know, ALWAYS, that Fedor was a tiny heavyweight He's essentially a light heavy fightng at heavy. He and dan are a division apart, IMO, when talking about natural frame size.

That was a good scrap, I honestly thought Fedor would ragdoll him the same way Black Fedor wound up doing.

Crazy, wild fight.

Hendo is legitimately one of the TOUGHEST fighters to ever compete in MMA.

Fedor was touching Hendo up until Hendo got his second wind. Then it was lights out for Fedor.

And for the people that say Hendo wasn't smaller than Fedor, that's total BS because Hendo looked noticeably smaller than Fedor.

When you hit the center of of gravity on your opponent you will be suprised how easy it is to control the bigger man.

literally no one in this thread said hendo wasn't smaller than fedor. lol

I've been in that argument before. I'm nipping it in the butt if that makes sense.

I got where you're coming from.

I think hendo and fedor are basically a middleweight fighting a light heavyweight. there's a clear size difference, but it isn't astonishing or so sizable that it feels sadistic watching the matchup. Even though it felt a little sadistic, at the end there. lol

I thought Fedor would rag doll Hendo much like DC did, so when Hendo pounded the back of his head til the finish I was shocked. WAR Hendo.

That's pretty much where I was as well. I thought Hendo would hang in there for a while and have his moments, but ultimately I thought Fedor would be consistently in control of that vehicle. It was a weird fight, but it was damn explosive and the conclusion was no doubt exciting as shit.

Love both of those guys, so I was going to be juiced for whoever got the W and a little hurt for whoever lost.

Exciting and fun for sure.

TRT (Steroids), and lots of them. That and a very quick stoppage from Herb "UFC" Dean. You don't see Hendo clamoring for a rematch because he knows he wouldn't have a prayer under fair terms.

the only thing that comes to mind is that fedor STILL doesn't train in a cage. that is, if he trained at all near the end there.

That was not a skill Fedor needed in the ring. And he never trained in a cage properly. That is the reason Hendo and Rogers were able to control him against the cage. He might have also escaped Werdum's submission if the cage was not in the way.

JMMA was a different type of MMA.
