How do fighters similiar to Cain make a living always injured and unable to fight year after year.

I mean salaries are not on the same level as boxing. Do they sit around at the playstation playing games all day in their aunts attic. How do they manage to even buy gas to get around on if they aren't pulling in any cash sitting in UFC limbo until they heal or are even able to train.
 
Seminars and bike rides with the elderly.

Actually, it's a total incentive to be injured/on-the-shelf if you're a champion so you can continue to rack in bookings for conventions, autograph signings, seminars, etc.
 
Seriously? Cain made $400,000 in the LOSS against Werdum. Pretty easy money to live off of for a year...And that's just fight pay.

Not really. Cain has a nice house in San Jose that he got when he was the champ. Wife, daughter, cars. After taxes and gym fees that $400k isn't much. It's probably about $200k to live on. That may seem like a lot, but not when you have a $6-7 month mortgage, car payments; insurance, school for the kids, so and so on.
