Was over on mmafighting, reading an article about Tate clarifying her thoughts on mcgregor being a ("insert insult, can't think of anything good"), and a lot of people were defending mc attacking Tate.

A recurring argument was what mcgregor was going to achieve/change with his stand off with the boys. And how it would benefit other fighters.

I don't get it. Will other fighters be able to make more money, cut better deals, have to do less press because....?

Anyways couldn't remember my password for there, and thought ye are a bit less of a retarded bunch, and then the question came to me; is that how sherdog wants to be known, as being a bit less retarded than mmafighting?
 
Conors posturing will change absolutely nothing in fighter pay for others. Probably won't help his bargaining power either. If he wants to fight he now knows he'll have to follow their rules.

Lol at the sheep defending Conor. Saying his "stand-off" was going to help other fighters. It's total bullshit. It's not why he did it, and there is no reasonable reason to believe it was going to help anybody. Actually, it's over now, and it didn't help anyone. It HURT the other fighters actually. But reality doesn't matter, let's invent reasons to defend the little midget shit-talker.

Sherdog specialists already debunked that theory, it's nothing more than a straw his fanboys grasp to have any argument whatsoever for his entitled behaviour.
 
MMA is starting to outgrow the UFC. Even if Conor cant get what he wants,someone will come along someday that will make it harder on the UFC,when it comes time to renegotiate. This is the natural evolution of guys making this kind of money,and having this kind of drawing power. UFC tries to keep their name above the fighters,but the sport is bigger than the UFC.
 
Your first mistake was thinking Sherdog is a bit less retarded bunch.

Conor does what's best for himself. Period.

That's a good thing. It's a dog eat dog world and the UFC would cut him the second they thought that they couldn't make money off of him.

But he's no martyr...and the more he plays the victim the more he looks like a bitch.

If TS was really interested, he'd read the thousands of posts covering this topic. Instead, he makes his own thread.
 
History lesson -

Our founding fathers (rich landowners and businessmen) said things like "no taxation with representation" and "Iiberty over tyranny" when for over 90% of the country/colonies being part of England or being independent didn't affect their lives at all. They were just trying to scrap out a meaningful existence. Revolution and independence only helped the wealthy but through their influence they got all colonies to buy into their ideas.


Stand off thing with Conor reminds me of the same thing. He wanted/wants everyone to believe what he's doing is helping everyone but he's just looking out for himself.

If Conor got everything he wanted by calling the UFC out publicly, then that may have an impact on negotiations for future superstars but not for the average fighter, champ or even star. It may have an effect on GSP but that's the only guy I can think of that the MMA world current'y knows that could benefit from this Conor nonsense. If Conor would have gone to ESPN, had a half hour sit down special right after the first tweet and calmly explained where he was at... that could have changed the game depending on his reasons. However, the reasons likely would have only applied to him just like a $10 million guaranteed fight purse only applied to him.
 
Mark Hunt recently signed a 6 fight multi million dollar contract.
