Mike Tyson and Cael Sanderson both like MMA. Who would've been the best crossover ever?

Mike Tyson said in an interview that "if they had big paydays" he would've done MMA instead of boxing.

Meanwhile, Cael has been messing around with MMA training...

Among the athletes of the last few decades who did not compete in MMA, who do you think would've done the best if they had left their sport at age 24, taken 3 years of preparation and started fighting at age 27?

Uh...... one of the top 5 best wrestlers of all time.... Just a guess...

EDIT: And Tyson abuses Ali and knocks him out inside of 5 rounds. Tyson at 20 that is.

I am going to play Devils Advocate and just remind people what knock-out power in your hands can do in the Heavyweight division. Tyson at 27 in MMA with 3 years preparation, so some Takedown defence and fundamentals (he was fast and strong so probably decent) he may have went far. The only Boxers we seen in MMA either weren't greats or past their prime so it is really Hypothetical, but I couldn't see many taking Tyson's punches with 4 Ounce gloves on.

Karelin for sure! Different league entirely to Cael.

Cael just beat a load of college kids from one country, plus a silver at the
world championship and one gold at Olympics.
Karelin got 9 gold world champs and 3 Olympic golds. That's against men of the world, not school kids from one country

cael... tyson hit really hard no doubt but he would have been a tiny hw and wouldnt have maintained the speed advantage at any other wc caels wrestling is just plain world class no matter the weight.

90's Tyson and 90's UFC were made for each other, it's a shame it never happened.
Just imagine if they had gotten Hoost instead of Gordeau like they originally wanted, and they had gotten Tyson instead of Art. It would have been the greatest Bloodsport tournament ever.

Cael, but Tyson would've been an absolute monster in his prime in MMA. People forget how lightning quick Tyson was and he only needed a small window to land a hook or uppercut. Not only that he was a ferocious body puncher, I dont think too many ribs would stay intact with those small gloves. With how stocky he is and his big legs I think he'd be hard to take down too if he learned some grappling.

Tyson due to the extremely low level of striking in MMA.

LOL you are an idiot. Ali is the greatest HW of all time, most barley have Tyson top 10. Tyson's best wins are against an old man Holmes coming off a loss and fucking Spinks. Ali would have the mental midget Tyson beat before they even got in the ring. LOL NO ONE knocks Ali out

Tyson was great and had all time great potential (that he never reached), but he may be the most overrated athlete in the history of combat sports due to his polarizing badass persona/look and his fan friendly style

Tyson had the most technical and vicious boxing of all time in his prime. Nobody can box with him

HAHA, who did he beat in his prime again? You sound like a typical casual youtube watcher and MMA fan. Tyson was FAR from the greatest. He was a fantastic boxer, BUT he gets overrated BIG TIME. Saying he would beat Ali is ridiculous. Saying he would KO Ali is completely insane. Ali fought better, tougher and harder hitters then Tyson and never got KOd

If you think Ali could have kept the most vicious boxer/puncher ever off him with just that jab and footwork, sure...... Nobody is denying Ali is the best HW ever, Tyson still knocks him out inside of 5 rounds. Styles make fights. Tyson at 20, under Cus D'Amato, would have murdered Ali. Lennox Lewis at 35 beats any version of Tyson to ever live. Styles make fights.

I don't think you know how highly-regarded Spinks was when Tyson destroyed him.

Dunno who Chael is so I'll go with the guy that was heavyweight champion of the world in an actual professional combat sport.
