4 of them were headlined by Brock Lesnar
2 of them were headlined by Rashad Evans

Of the other headliners:
- Cain Velasquez, Shane Carwin, Randy Couture and Frank Mir were HWs and were all fighting Brock Lesnar
- Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm are the only ones with blonde hair. Unless, we also count Tito Ortiz.
- Other then the women, no one (including Anderson Silva, Chris Weidman, Quinton Jackson, Forrest Griffin, and Chuck Liddell) is under the MW limit.

I never had heard of Brock until he fought mix fight. LoL

UFC 194 is reported to have sold 1,200,000 (Aldo-Conor).

You've stated 5 facts here, and the only one which is correct is that Rashad Evans headlined two of them.

Move this mind-numbingly idiotic thread to the wasteland please.

Literally the only source for PPV numbers is Dave Meltzer. That's where Tapology and Wikipedia get their numbers. They only state UFC 121 did over a million because they never updated their numbers after Meltzer downgraded it to 900k.

And meltzer is never 100% anyway so PPV numbers are always just a guess.

Which means ts would only be 2/5 Of his facts LOL... Just give him the brock one?

Well you can't count that one and not count the numerous other events that were estimated at 900k+ but under a million!

How about the reported gates for the PPV events?

1. GSP v Shields UFC 129 = $12,075,000
2. Mendes v McGregor UFC 189 = $7,200,000
3. Silva v Sonnen II UFC 148 = $6,901,000
4. Rousey v Holm UFC 193 = $6,800,000
5. Silva v Weidman 2 UFC 168 = $6,238,000

Note that #2-5 were the only events that earned more than 50% of that of UFC 129...and none included Mr. Lesnar which is interesting

It's weird the numbers never get released, we will never really know how close meltzer gets to the correct number. Has it even been said if he's only a few thousand off or could be a few hundred K. I remember ronda vs bethe was like 500-600 and then he said it was 800+ and I was just thinking hmm UFC golden girl getting her numbers bumped up

Why is everybody in this thread forgetting that UFC 194 happened?

WWE fans are easily parted with their money.
You mean the $9.99 they spend to get PPVs and 4300 hours of video library content for a full month, or the UFC customers who spend $60 to watch a three-hour show once?

Brock always had shit under cards though, he was usually the only dude worth seeing on the card from a casual stand point. He seem to only get the 2 million mark which is weird.

Rousey/holm is large due to being the first event in Melbourne. GSP vs shields was just promoted so well, that main card was shit if I remember correctly.

Right, so having GSP v Alves and Henderson v Bisping and the rest of the card at UFC 100 didn't help Brock at all, huh?

Did you read the OPs post? Hence, when Brock Lesnar is fighting it draws all the WWE fans, idiot. You think a die hard MMA fan is gonna fork out $60 to see Lesnar fight? Not by a long shot shot. So my statement rings true. WWE fans are easily parted with their money. Just wait til CM Punk debuts, Dana will be rubbing his hands together at the thought of all them WWE fanboys practically giving him their cash.
Your statement was in regards to the WWE audience being more willing to purchase PPVs, yet you've shown no metrics or evidence to prove that claim.

The spending behaviour of the WWE audience isn't any different from the UFC's, as evidenced by the similar range of PPV buys (back when WWE was actively marketing theirs).

Brock Lesnar's PPV buys in the latter part of his MMA career, which are the basis to your claim, averaged only slightly higher than George St-Pierre's in the latter part of his. What's your rationale for St-Pierre's elevated PPV buy rates, since he wasn't a professional wrestler?

PPV buys are determined on star power of athletes and marquee value of fights. Star power is based upon name recognition, which Lesnar had as a result of his first stint in WWE, but was not the sole reason for his success as a UFC PPV attraction. He also was an antagonistic American who could talk up fights ala Chael Sonnen (a somewhat rare, but extremely desirable trait for an MMA promoter), was an enormous heavyweight with cat-like reflexes and insane amount of power, but was young enough in his MMA career to be vulnerable to a loss by a more experienced fighter.

All of these factored into what made Brock Lesnar a big PPV attraction, and it wasn't all just based on one unfounded claim about the spending behaviours of a certain audience.
