Not surprised the most unaffordable states are blue states. If you live in those States I could see why you think your are getting fucked over. The reality is, their politicians have created the mess.
The low income people have to move out of their state because they can't afford it...then they move to a more affordable state and then they vote Democrat. Makes no sense.

Each year, as part of CNBC’s exclusive America’s Top States for Business study, we consider Cost of Living as one of our key categories of competitiveness. That is because companies seeking to recruit the best possible workforce know that low costs can be a great way to attract talent. We rank all 50 statesbased on an index of basic items including average home and food prices, monthly energy bills and health costs. That gives us not only the cheapest states to live in but also the most expensive ones.

Its mostly a byproduct of capitalism where high income industries, coupled with high income earners and denser population core results in spikes in real estate cost among other cost if living. Stop being a conservative while bitching about products of ultra competitive market factors. That whining is for socialists.

In other news, the state’s with the highest salaries are... mostly the same blue states. Crazy how that works.

Oregon wut? I only pay 800 for a two bedroom.

Though to be fair I paid 1300 a month for a 1 bedroom in P town. I live further south now, in McMinnville where i grew up, (Farm Country)

It's still a helluva lot cheaper than Cuckfornia tho.
And we don't have sales tax

I moved from California to Hawaii, both are expen$ive for sure.

This is the issue. But that doesn't mean there aren't policy fixes. There's huge demand for housing that is being suppressed artificially. The ideal is liberal policies to grow the economy AND getting out of the way of construction so that costs are not crazy.

How many major companies are based in Seattle and San Francisco? All that money and massive inequality. Look what is happening there. No place for poor people. Some of the most regressive taxes.

This likely won't surprise you: In Washington, the less money you make the larger your percentage of state taxes is.

That's because the Evergreen State has one of the most regressive tax structures in the country -- in fact, according to a new report from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, it's the most regressive.

"When all state and local taxes are tallied, Washington's poor families pay 17.8 percent of their income in state and local taxes," the report read. "Compare that to neighboring Idaho and Oregon, where the poor pay 9.2
