I'm from Jersey but never got to see him at States because he was at Blair. But obviously he had a mythical reputation. I remember watching that ESPN doc on the Iowa wrestling team his freshman (?) year. That watch, not sure if it's still out there.

    I saw it.

Came in as a True Freshman with 7 returning AAs including the returning Champ and an Olympic Bronze medalist and took 2nd losing in a hideout to Rowlands.

I think his only other loss that year was to Leonce Crump for LA who actually beat him fairly convincingly.

That Blair squad is probably the greatest HS team ever.

You placed at the Beast 2x? Just looking through old brackets to see if you had the misfortune of going up against Mocco.

I placed the 2 years after he graduated.

I was a match away from wrestling him at the Bethlehem Hurricane Holiday tournament his senior year.

Most are pretty clear. The only ones I'd argue would be close enough to go either way would be 125 and 165. Hendricks was never the model of consistency and this was before Coleman really found his stride. Jimmy could be tough at 141 but he could get bulldozed as well.

Yeah I'm pjm46 over there and argued that Hendricks wasn't unbeatable.

I'd go Scott but I'm also a PA homer and saw him wrestle a bunch in HS and college.

97 Iowa vs P SU is also interesting.

Lincoln Mac vs Nolf would be the most exciting match in NCAA history.

It will be fun to do this again next year.

Checking the entry list for the crucible that's known as the Spanish Grand Prix, and it doesn't look like the US is sending a combatant to the battlefields of Madrid at 86, which is disappointing. I was hoping we'd see a John Smith type run from Taylor where he reeled off 5 or 6 straight Grand Prix titles.

Ali Aliev final at 70 KG between 2015 world champion (70 KG) Megomadrusal Gazimagomedov and 2015 champ (65 KG) Frank Chamizo. Check out the sequence at 6:45; unbelievable takedown defense from Chamizo. Dude is friggin so hard to score on.

Downey just doesn't get it. Check out his twitter lol. What coach would ever bring in a kid like that to their team?

The ridiculous stuff his dad posts on themat is over the top but then the Cormier thing puts him in a whole new category of stupid. They threw at Cormier that he was 0-6 against Cael like that was supposedly a huge insult and terrible loss. It's Cael Fucking Sanderson!!! Lol. Cormier is still a 2x Olympian and world bronze medalist.

I'm torn on the Downey topic because on one hand, I don't want to see him on any team as he truly is a cancer and brings such negative press towards the sport. But on the other, I would love to see him wrestle Nickal in folk and get torched like he did in free.

Agreed 100%. Pile of shit human but Nickal would bang him up in folk too. They are good at the same things and Nickal is just better at them.
