Great article. I'm betting against Gray tonight, and suddenly feel better about it

His success was majorly based on Fitch-like style of fighting. Once he started to be more exciting he got exposed. He matched well against Frankie though.

Limited skills, and Connor Ruebusch aka Discipulus speculated that his title fights with Edgar destroyed his confidence, which makes sense to me.

Maynard is an interesting case for sure. 3 years ago, he would've been a lock to wrestle Pearson into the mat from bell to bell and maybe set up a bomb using feints. Now? Who knows.

Franky happened and the division evolved past him. Grant and Diaz are tough matchups for him. He hasn't fought Benson , pettis, Melendez, Thompson , etc. he was at the top of the div when the div wasn't as strong...

Frankie Edgar cracked his chin and stole his soul, no doubt about it. But there's more to it than that. He got ringrusted and injured (fought only once between 2011 and 2013) for one thing. Also, his style changed a lot, he became obsessed with his striking and now thinks he's a striker when he's really a wrestler (and his arsenal isn't that diverse, he's really just become a headhunter). He seems to have lost his fire too. Finally, form what I hear, extreme couture training sessions are really intense and take a toll on you.
