Arguable, other than opponents being much less aggressive, because they know the judges screw over Machida because he doesn't fight like a Boxer/Wrestler. I thought it was pretty obvious that he won against Page and Davis, but I don't think he'd have the same problem with decisions at MW, where he fits better physically.

I don't think so. It was a year ago when he fought Bader, and he looked extremely fast and accurate in that fight. I remember reading that Machida had an ankle injury during the fight against Davis. Maybe that would explain why he wasn't moving around as much as he normally does.

It's an odd situation.

He was KTFO'd by Shogun for fighting out of character, and put to sleep by Jones, who is simply a monster.

Against Rampage and Davis, he wasn't particularly impressive, but I'm also hesitant to say either of those guys "figured his style out".

People understand his game better, that's for sure. On the other hand, he's also added some new things that he didn't have during his physical prime, which have been discussed earlier in this thread.

If anything, he just needs to see how he fairs at 185, or take a few more risks in order to do more damage. His elusive style is lending itself to close decisions. That's not a smart game to play in MMA at this stage, given the sport's history of seemingly random judges' scorecards.

It would be cool if Machida fights till he is like 55. He would be like an old Karate man from the age of the samurais. Straight out of a fucking movie.

I think so, to start with, the guy is 35, in pro sports that is considered over the hill the vast majority of the time, especially in a sport this damn grueling. We've seen too many Coutures and Dan Hendersons which seems to lead us to forget this. And add to that the fact that his fight mileage at this point is very high as well and so yes, he is in the clear twilight of his career and it is doubtful he will get another UFC title shot of any kind again.
