I enjoy and I'm fascinated by Japanese culture so I enjoy the introductions.
PRIDE wasn't an MMA event, it was a celebration of japanese culture every single time they put a show on. You'd see Japanese hero's take on scary gaijin because the japanese love fights like that, they're freakshow fights but they're entertaining and they embody the japanese culture.
I can understand people who don't like it but to put down people who do is ignorant and douchebaggy
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
how would mma be today if pride bought out the ufc and didn't "monopolize" mma?? would the current fighter rankings be the same under pride rules?? what types of crazy matches would we see?? who would would compete in the grand prix tourneys?? would fedor still be around?
Short answer imo would be MMA might be back in the dark ages in that PRIDE would have still eventually gone out of business as their home base in Japan was going to fall through anyway with the TV networks pulling out.
