Zuffa cares more about the publicity they're getting off of Ronda/WMMA than they do about the ppv buyrate. These guys aren't living check to check, they're playing a long game. Dana said that the show has already been a success, and I don't think he's just talking about the live gate from the tickets that have been sold.
You're seeing coverage of MMA in the wierdest places, like the Larry King show, or the nytimes magazine. This just makes the sport seem more mainstream and accessible, especially given the personalities of Carmouche and Rousey. Millions of new people are going to realize that MMA is not methed up sociopaths thrown into a cage to gouge each others eyes out.
