Still pushing 40 and then in his 40s he outstruck Chuck Liddell in their first fight, and then Tim Sylvia when he came out of retirement.

Couture was your typical close-the-distance wrestler. If he got a chance to get close and box you up against the cage then you were in deep waters, it didn't matter if you were Anderson Silva or Shogun. If he couldn't close that distance yeah he'd be in big fucking trouble, kinda obvious. In Liddell II/III and Machida fights he was trying to cut off the cage to square his opponent in, and it just did not happen.

The younger fans that don't remember his value will go into fifhtfinder and just judge and evaluate him on the win-loss record. He was much better than his record and always brought it, just like Penn.

Lol

As others have pointed out, AS isn't old enough for a comparison.

If you want to compare Randy's post-40 record in UFC championship fights(4-4), you don't have anyone to compare him to.

True, Randy also had a sick double leg, took down Chuck in 1, 3 fights and Tito with double legs.

Both had very different mentalities towards their careers as well.

Randy would fight anybody across multiple weightclasses. Anderson dominated his weightclass, but never challenged himself with a run at the belt at 205, despite dominating one of it's previous holders.

Thats why guys like BJ and Randy are held in such high regard. Not the best records on paper, but they've got much bigger balls than more successful fighters like Andy and GSP.

That would probably result in a double leg break.
