That's one of the problems.
I agree. A lot of fights are so evenly matched that the fighters cancel each other out and little offense happens. Because everybody is so well rounded, there are less weaknesses to exploit and therefore less action/finishes. Defense has evolved/improved faster than offense.

Pretty much this. The idea that the UFC is the premier MMA organization in the world is laughable when half of their roster should be fighting in a lower tier organization. They really should have kept the WEC or Strikeforce active and let those fighters work they way up from there. The UFC brand is being harmed by putting up some of the fights they show on PPV.

I agree, there are fewer characters, or at least it seems that way. There's probably the same difference in personalities and backgrounds but the UFC doesn't push that angle.

This is why I don't mind guys like Rory Macdonald, outside of the cage anyway. The psycho angle is something different and interesting. He's clearly an odd guy, but the UFC will probably try to sell him as a clean cut Canadian hero to replace GSP.

They are certainly the premier organization, but every event is not the "superbowl of MMA".
