It's already done, unless the UFC matches the offer he's bound to his contract

This seems a lot like the Kurt Angle situation many years back where he left for TNA. Popular wrestler, one of the top at the time, jump ships to the "B" promotion and everyone saw it as a chance for TNA to shine.

They didn't. Bellator won't either.

Bellator won't but eventually an org will come around that will. It's the ebb and flow of MMA, Dana is already slipping and with the way he acts eventually there's going to be some sort of scandal that will open the doors for others to stick their foot in the door.

I mean, didn't he make like 250k in his last fight? That's a shitload of money which you can live comfortably on. In Bellator, Gil will never be considered the best fighter in the world now since there are only two top guys there. What's he gonna do after those match-ups? What a shame. I always thought Gil was in it more for the competition.

Gil should win the UFC title and then quit ... and throw his belt

You and Sanchez put on fight of the year. Man....I speak for most of the fans when I say we need you to fight in the UFC!
Gil, if you're reading this, do what's best for you and your family.

You're going to be 32 years old in a few months. Fighters don't stay in their primes forever. Try to get the best offers and make as much money as you can, while you can. No one will look after you and your family when your career is done, so go after that cheddar.

Best of luck!

Pretty much this. Financially, it may make more sense to go to Bellator. From a personal perspective, with his family, guaranteed money is important. It's not even necessarily the argument of "he doesn't believe in his own ability" he has to consider things like possible injuries.

It appears he has put his family and their financial future above his own dream of being the best lightweight in the world. Can you blame him for that?

However, from a fan's perspective, this is thoroughly disappointing. I'd like to see the best in the world fight each other and this means losing that opportunity.
